    Nov 24 2025

Gerry Morrison and Harriet Wheeldon, specialist legal advisors in the charities sector speak to Olly Burdett, a trustee of the high-profile charity, Tigers Trust about increasing Board diversity and how to use positive communication to amplify the charity’s impact.

Olly is an expert in marketing and communications and brings his professional knowledge to his role as a trustee. Olly also has a unique insight into the charity having previously been an employee of Tigers Trust and took part in the charity’s workshops when he was at school.

Olly has a holistic view of the charity and its mission. Trustee boards are sometimes criticised by the charity’s employees, service users, and volunteers for appearing disconnected or remote. Over time the Board can also become perceived by those working on the ground as a barrier to getting the work done.

Olly talks about how to build strong working relationships between the Trustees and the charity’s staff and volunteers and about how he made the transition to charity trustee at a young age.

In conversation with Andy Barber OBE: How innovation can help charities fulfil their missions.

In a fascinating and engaging conversation with Andy Barber OBE, Chief Executive of Beverley Housing Charity and an experienced charity trustee, Gerry Morrison and Harriet Wheeldon of Wilkin Chapman Rollits LLP find out how Andy uses innovation to help the charities that he leads to fulfil their missions.

We find out about how innovation has helped Andy to revitalise trustee boards, restrategise charities that have outlived their original purposes and in successful fundraising.

Andy has considerable experience leading charities and brings his considerable knowledge of the voluntary sector to this fantastic discussion about how good governance helps drive a charity forward and build strong relationships between the Board of trustees, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.

This podcast is a great prelude to Trustees’ Week 2025, a national celebration of charity trustees who are the voluntary force behind so many great organisations transforming their communities.

Being a charity trustee is about so much more than adhering to six main duties - as important as these are. This podcast aims to combine Gerry’s and Harriet’s knowledge of charity law with Andy’s practical engagement and lived through experience.
