  • Friday Night Resonator Blues
    Jul 1 2023

This is just a fun little 12-bar blues. I've just included the last couple of minutes here. But if you watch the full video, you'll see me play all of the parts... including that groovy slide dobro.

  • Time Will Tell (Bob Marley cover)
    Jun 28 2023

I have been wanting to record a cover of this tune for ages.  I really dig the way this little jam came out.  I think I may turn it into a proper recording. Until then, enjoy!

  • Tantrum Jam
    Jun 26 2023

I had a slew of technical problem at the beginning, which resulted in a tantrum in which I just hit the drum pads wildly. You can see that proud moment on the full livestream (link below). Here we're starting off well into the session, when that spastic beat had turned into a cool little Latin groove.  I made it up on the spot, although the bass line does sound familiar.

  • High & Dry
    Jun 26 2023

This is a groovy little jam. Before I started streaming I was listening to my single "High & Dry" from a couple of years ago. It is a funky and psychedelic tune.

I started jamming on the bridge from that song (D minor, F, A minor, G, A minor), and this is what I came up with.As always, I'm starting you here about halfway through, once most of the tracks are already recorded. If you'd like to watch the entire process, check out the unedited livestream via the link below.

    Enjoy!

  • My Ocean
    Jun 22 2023

This is a song I wrote way back in 1991. It was a sort of shoegazer alt-rock guitar song. Over the years I've recorded it a number of times, most recently in 2020 with my other other band, The Distractions.  You can hear that here... https://songwhip.com/the-distractions...

There's just something about the main riff that sticks with me.  It's just three simple chords, E - A9 - C# minor (1,4,6). It just works.

This is a very chill, piano/guitar version of the tune. It's very nice. The full livestream includes an extended guitar solo that looks fabulous, but alas that guitar has no sound. Fortunately the rhythm guitar track did. So, we have this laid-back vibe to enjoy.

  • All Along The Watchtower
    Jun 22 2023

If I were to make a list of my favorite rock artists, it would start with Hendrix and Dylan. I play this one live a lot. It's never the same twice. This is a neat version. There are some volume level issues, but that is to be expected in this arena I suppose.

Also... I sing on this one.

    Enjoy!

  • Peter Gunn Theme with a house beat?
    Jun 20 2023

Henry Mancini wrote this classic cop show theme song in 1959. A bunch of artists have covered it through the years. The Blues Brothers, Art of Noise, Duane Eddy, and ELP all had hits with the tune. I tried a simple four on the floor house beat for my take on the jazzy noir instrumental.

I think it came out pretty cool. There is some very rockin' guitar, and some very sloppy electric piano with some volume issues. But all-in-all, a cool little jam.

  • So Lonely (The Police cover)
    Jun 16 2023

I went with another song by The Police for my second stream, because it's a cool tune and they're a cool band. Their music has been a huge influence on both my playing a writing. Also, there is a lot of repetition in their music, which is pretty conducive to looping.

So dig my funky little instrumental take on "So Lonely". There is some cool guitar stuff, and a neat little electric piano thing at the end.
