  • Choosing the right frisbee to play disc with your dog!
    Sep 2 2025

    Send us a text

A few times a week people reach out to us about how to pick the right frisbee for their dog. We go over it in our online disc dog courses, but also wanted to make this info even more accessible, so here it is in episode 11 of the Inspire Dog Podcast!

If you’re interested in purchasing these discs for your dogs you can find many of them here:

    https://fairlyodddogsapparel.com/

You can always find our shop and online courses here as well to train and play disc with your dogs and puppies: http://linktr.ee/fairlyodddogs

All the discs mentioned in this podcast are dog safe discs! This means the plastic is light enough, has rounded edges, and doesn’t shatter or splinter. Dogs might poke holes in the or chew them up if left alone, but a dog safe disc doesn’t shatter how many cheap give away frisbees can. Disc golf discs are typically too heavy, and sharp around the edges for safe dog play. Ultimate frisbees are also not made of a plastic designed for dogs, and typically too big. So the dog safe discs from companies like Hero Disc USA are perfect for dogs!

You and your dog have a relationship bank account together. This bank account is actually a driving force behind your dog or puppy truly valuing and enjoying working with you!

I remember once seeing on social media a marriage counselor say that married couples that don’t have at least 3/4 of their interactions as positive interactions, they are likely to get divorced. With dogs we are looking for 9/10 to be positive to really grow a high end relationship together!

  • How a Dog’s Breed can Influence their Behavior!
    Apr 16 2025

    Send us a text

Why do golden retrievers and so many hunting dogs like to carry household items around so much? Why do herding dogs like Australian Shepherds like to round up the kids? Why is the terrier chasing all of the mice and rats? Why is the hound constantly sniffing instead of recalling? There are seasons our dogs do the things they do! Some of it is how they’ve been raised, and environmental factors. Other parts have been shaped through selective breeding over many years. This breeding for traits has ingrained strong natural behaviors in our dogs. It’s can be incredibly healthy for your relationship with them to understand these characteristics. In today’s episode we’ll dive into this subject!

I want to stress that just because these genetic factors are ingrained into our dogs, it doesn’t mean many behaviors can’t be improved or reshaped via training! Email us at luckymuttdogtraining@gmail.com if you’d like to train with us! We provide virtual sessions worldwide and in-person sessions for people around the Twin Cities and greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area!
