  • Avengers: Endgame (2019)
    Dec 2 2025

In this episode of the 'It's Tom-plicated: A Tom Holland Film Podcast,' hosts Alex Marcus and Manish Mathur return to the MCU with an in depth discussion on Avengers: Endgame. This film hit theaters in April 2019 and delivered one of the most critically and commercially successful films in history.

Directed, once again, by Joe & Anthony Russo and written by screenwriting team Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, the film starred pretty much everyone in the MCU, but mainly Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Brie Larson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Rudd, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Josh Brolin, and Tom Holland who leads an impressive roster of cameos, surprise appearances, and returning favs.

On the podcast, Alex and Manish discuss their first time seeing the movie and their reactions to the devastating finale. They discuss why this film works much better for Alex than it did for Manish. They also get into the Hawkeye vs Black Widow debate, why tertiary characters played by Renee Russo and Tilda Swinton lowkey stole the movie from the heavy hitters in the cast, and how the film expertly balances the need to deliver a character driven action spectacle that still finds time for fan service without it distracting from the emotional heart of the film. Plus, an in depth discussion of Tom’s entire 5 minutes of screen time and Alex tries to explain how Steve Rogers ended up on that bench at the end of the film!

In two weeks, Alex and Manish cover Tom’s return to leading man status as he battles his own grief and the ghost of Hollywood it-boys’ past in Spider-Man: Far From Home!

In this episode of the 'It's Tom-plicated: A Tom Holland Film Podcast,' hosts Alex Marcus and Manish Mathur discuss one of Tom’s least known films: the religious epic Pilgrimage. Released in 2017 but shot much earlier, the film stars Jon Bernthal, Richard Armitage, John Lynch, and Staley Wbber. Directed by Brendan Muldowney, the film is intense, violent, but perhaps more philosophical than you might think.

Alex and Manish are joined by Girl Culture’s Caroline Siede. The three of them go into the themes, violence, filmmaking, and design of this forgotten movie. Much is made about Jon Bernthal’s unique star power and Tom’s innocence and self-discovery. Pilgrimage may not be the best movie but it is saying something. What that is, we’re not sure.
