Meet Your Actor Series - Amy Selma

This week Gaby brings Amy Selma to the Chaos table! We get to hear all about Amy's journey into voiceover - from a tiny town on the boarder of Mexico and Belize in the jungle, to the fields of Minnesota, and then to the Hollywood lights in LA! Meet Amy Selma an award winning, bilingual Spanish/English voice actor, who was born in Mexico and raised in the Caribbean by her Belizean parents. She is celebrated for her clear, neutral accent in both languages with a versatile and engaging deliver! Amy jumped into the great wide world of voice over thanks to the suggestion of her husband, Nico Selma, an Animation director at Nickelodeon. However she did not originally set out to become a voice over actor, Amy has a degree in Industrial & Product Design from el Tech de Monterrey along with many cool job experiences before getting started as a Voiceover artist. We hear all about Amy's journey, along with her refreshing perspective on the life of a voice actor, her insightful mind set choices to tap into, how following your path but also eventually listening to those who support you & gently push you to actually going for your dreams is an important part of the journey as well. When Amy is not in the booth she is in the backyard playing with her two kids, watching a webtoon, playing a video game, planning a road trip or happily buried in a book learning something new!

This week we share the Chaos table with Monica Garcia, a long-time friend of Gaby's and also Founder of a non-profit called The Love Yourself Foundation. Monica created this foundation for many reasons that she shares with us but ultimately its creation is aimed at connecting self-love of an individual to the healing Community and the Environmental healing of the planet. This foundation began through reaching out to individuals online & then branched out to in person events through Art & Music, meditation, open mic nights, and for those working in the hospitality world in Las Vegas area. Now the foundations reach has grown & expanding to create I AM Love which is the next chapter for this non-profits future outreach program. We find out why this soon to be launched Telehealth based service is personally connected to Monica and how it was inspired by someone very close to her. Of course we chat about music and healing, taking care of yourself, Hertz & vibrations, sound bowl healing, yoga, mental health, self-love, finding Gratitude, leaning on Community, tips to give yourself some self-love, Reiki, tips on what to do for a friend who may be struggling and so much more...we unpack it all! More about Monica Garcia -

Mónica García founded a non-profit called the Love Yourself Foundation in 2018. The mission of this organization is aimed at connecting self-love of an individual to the healing of the community, and the environmental healing of the planet. Mónica received her undergraduate education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in Sociology and Environmental Studies, and has her ICF Accredited Holistic Career and Life Coaching certification from the Institute for Career Coaching. Mónica is also a Reiki Master Practitioner and will be receiving her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate in the summer of 2025.

Sometimes technology does things that make you so frustrated on multiple levels that you want to just jump out the window (not really but the sentiment is there). Then Jozlyn shares a big decision she has recently made for her voiceover career, that sparks a shared conversation amongst the whole gang. Plus we have some more fun with a fun exercise that was inspired by a social media share from Jane, where we all have to act out the same sentence, but with different types of character voices! Meet Your Actor Series - Terrance Addison

This week our special guest is Tall, Dark, and Hilarious. Terrance Addison is a full-time voice actor based in Los Angeles, California. His versatile voice ranges from med-high to deep-low. He voices Commercials, eLearning, Promo, Video Games, Animation and more. Terrance is a proud father and family man & when he's not in the booth, he's spending time with family and friends.

The conversation takes us through Terrance's journey to finding his way into becoming a full-time voice over actor. We learn about what he does outside the booth on any typical day, what's his favorite beverage, the last movie he watched, what he last ate for breakfast, favorite voiceover genre, what his day job used to be, what is his favorite video game, how he doesn't consume the media or participate on Social media often. Terrance share's with us his thoughts on what's meant for you won't pass you by and how he infuses bits and pieces of himself in every character he voices. We also play a fun round table game where we take our current mood + last thing we ate = the name of our video game we create. Apparently, there are a lot of newer video games with food names now! Find out what all our video game names are! Then we find out what Terrance is most proud of...And then one final, final question from Gaby - What would your Inner Child say to you now? Sometimes we chat ahead of the recording with our guests and then continue the convo after as well...So this episode is us shooting the breeze about what's going on in our lives currently in the first few months of 2025. Of course, we discuss illness, because who hasn't been sick in January/February of 2025! Then we expand on the final question we always ask..."What is the one thing you are most proud of" and Ken's take on what would have to happen to NOT choose his kids! Ken also shares why and how hard it was that he had to press pause on his upcoming Character demo. Also we hear more about how sick Jozlyn really was, how she still had to power through a Director call back, reschedule a voiceover client meeting and manage her family & biz from bed! Lloyd was singing too much due to Epic reasons, we might of lost Sandy in her booth because it was so dark in there, why are we crying at kids movies, Jozlyn's kid bought latest GTA (he's 11!), what we will not do for our 1st kids verse your 3rd and why is Sandy trying to cover butts in her class!
