Hey friend! Just dropping in your ear to say Hi! & touch base, as we round off Season 6 and head into Season 7. Yeah, we have been doing this for a little while now! If you're NEW here, WELCOME! We're so glad you joined in on the Chaos! If you've been here a little while, thanks for always coming back and listening in on our chaos, I mean conversations! We appreciate YOU!

This podcast has grown into an amazing passion project for us here on the pod and we are thrilled to be sharing our conversations with you. Thinking back (all the way back to 2020) where this podcast was first created, then seeing how much it has evolved over the years...to right this moment, to really see what it has grown into to today...It is SO different from from when we first launched...Yet, here we are still having fun and still sharing stories!

Our focus shifted a tiny bit, by focusing on documenting our individual creative journeys, from the very beginning, to share, grow, connect and laugh together through all the ups, downs and chaos.

Along the way we created our Signature Series, which we lovingly call 'Meet Your Actor Series'. This is a very special series where we get to highlight, & hold space for other actors, to share their stories, journeys & how they're navigating their creative paths in this wild world of being Creatives. We also love inviting and bringing on Special Guests, who are industry professionals, to have conversations about different topics that are relatable, helpful and inspiring as well. Connecting is key and this is why we love to podcast and share these conversations!

Really, we just love a great conversation and hearing your story, because everyone has a story to tell and we want to hear it, all of them!

Take aways from our convo: I am many things, not just one thing. Your job is not your identity. The voiceover community is one of the only fields, where everyone is up in each others chili pot. You have just one life, so go do everything you want to do. If you are interested in learning about how to do something new go for it and figure it out. Collaboration is the life force for creatives. Find your Collaborative team, get help from those who know things you don't or don't have time to figure out. Actively do not limit yourself. Baseline, just try something. Worst thing to happen when you try something new is shoot that worked or shoot it didn't work, and now how do I make it work? Voiceover is no longer a career it is a just a business. These days it is hard to JUST be a voice actor. You are a million things, your job is not your identity...labeling limits your limitless ability to be many things! You do not need permission!

Meet Your Actor Series - Amy Selma

This week Gaby brings Amy Selma to the Chaos table! We get to hear all about Amy's journey into voiceover - from a tiny town on the boarder of Mexico and Belize in the jungle, to the fields of Minnesota, and then to the Hollywood lights in LA! Meet Amy Selma an award winning, bilingual Spanish/English voice actor, who was born in Mexico and raised in the Caribbean by her Belizean parents. She is celebrated for her clear, neutral accent in both languages with a versatile and engaging deliver! Amy jumped into the great wide world of voice over thanks to the suggestion of her husband, Nico Selma, an Animation director at Nickelodeon. However she did not originally set out to become a voice over actor, Amy has a degree in Industrial & Product Design from el Tech de Monterrey along with many cool job experiences before getting started as a Voiceover artist. We hear all about Amy's journey, along with her refreshing perspective on the life of a voice actor, her insightful mind set choices to tap into, how following your path but also eventually listening to those who support you & gently push you to actually going for your dreams is an important part of the journey as well. When Amy is not in the booth she is in the backyard playing with her two kids, watching a webtoon, playing a video game, planning a road trip or happily buried in a book learning something new!

This week we share the Chaos table with Monica Garcia, a long-time friend of Gaby's and also Founder of a non-profit called The Love Yourself Foundation. Monica created this foundation for many reasons that she shares with us but ultimately its creation is aimed at connecting self-love of an individual to the healing Community and the Environmental healing of the planet. This foundation began through reaching out to individuals online & then branched out to in person events through Art & Music, meditation, open mic nights, and for those working in the hospitality world in Las Vegas area. Now the foundations reach has grown & expanding to create I AM Love which is the next chapter for this non-profits future outreach program. We find out why this soon to be launched Telehealth based service is personally connected to Monica and how it was inspired by someone very close to her. Of course we chat about music and healing, taking care of yourself, Hertz & vibrations, sound bowl healing, yoga, mental health, self-love, finding Gratitude, leaning on Community, tips to give yourself some self-love, Reiki, tips on what to do for a friend who may be struggling and so much more...we unpack it all! More about Monica Garcia -

Mónica García founded a non-profit called the Love Yourself Foundation in 2018. The mission of this organization is aimed at connecting self-love of an individual to the healing of the community, and the environmental healing of the planet. Mónica received her undergraduate education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in Sociology and Environmental Studies, and has her ICF Accredited Holistic Career and Life Coaching certification from the Institute for Career Coaching. Mónica is also a Reiki Master Practitioner and will be receiving her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate in the summer of 2025.

Welcome to the After Party, the conversation continues...Finding friends who keep you grounded is so important in your creative journey and who bring different things into your world that are super helpful. Sometimes technology does things that make you so frustrated on multiple levels that you want to just jump out the window (not really but the sentiment is there). Then Jozlyn shares a big decision she has recently made for her voiceover career, that sparks a shared conversation amongst the whole gang. Plus we have some more fun with a fun exercise that was inspired by a social media share from Jane, where we all have to act out the same sentence, but with different types of character voices!
