They set everything up for episode 9……oh wait, they cut 2 episodes so this was just a long teaser trailer for season 3 in 2026. Fuck this.

“Smallfolk” is mainly about Rhaenyra’s plan to recruit common folk who have Targaryen blood and try to make them into dragon riders. There’s also a decent scene between Mysaria and Rhaenyra. If you like seeing Daemon in Harrenhal and Rhaenyra asking “What would you have me do?” then this is the episode that you’ve seen 2-3 times already. Don’t forget, lead writer for the show, Sarah Hess, out and out said that the smallfolk didn’t matter when Rhaenys killed a bunch in season one. She deserves so much.

“The Burning Mill” could have been really cool if they had the budget and desire to show the Brackens fight the Blackwoods. Maybe more time could have been spent with the Starks since most people seem to be fond of them. Instead, we get a filler episode with one of the absolutely dumbest scenes in this show’s history when Rhaenyra sneaks back into King’s Landing.
