    Satire de la médecine, satire des femmes, satire des niais, défense du bon sens, de la liberté, de la vie et de l'amour, Le médecin malgré lui est tout cela à la fois ; on en pourrait dire autant de la plupart des pièces de Molière. Si celle-ci se distingue des autres, et en particulier des autres farces auxquelles on la rattache ordinairement, c'est sa surprenante présence de son personnage central, ce Sganarelle qui de faiseur de fagots devient grand médecin, et par la violence agressive de son langage. Car Sganarelle est un être à demi-cultivé qui aime s'étourdir de mots, qui prise la parole pour elle-même et qui y trouve sa véritable existence. L'extravagance verbale est sa façon à lui de se situer par rapport aux autres, sinon de s'opposer aux autres. L'intrigue du Médecin malgré lui est simple : Sganarelle, un faiseur de fagots de bois, ivrogne et brutal, bat sa femme Martine. Pour se venger celle-ci fait croire aux domestiques de Géronte, Valère et Lucas, que son mari est un médecin mais qu'il n'accepte de travailler qu'après avoir reçu des coups de bâton. Lucinde fille de Géronte, mais aussi amoureuse de Léandre, ne veut pas d'un mariage avec Horace que son père a décidé. Pour s'opposer à son père Lucinde feint d'être muette. Pour soigner sa fille Géronte fait appel à Sganarelle. Celui-ci qui est copieusement battu par les domestiques de Géronte prend petit à petit son rôle de médecin au sérieux. Lucinde retrouve la parole pour défendre son projet de mariage avec Léandre. Géronte accepte pour gendre Léandre qui vient de faire un bel héritage.     C'était en 1956 sur les ondes de France III Nationale, dans "Le théâtre et l'université", une émission placée sous le haut patronage de l'Éducation nationale. On y donnait une version radiophonique du Dom Juan de Molière, dans une mise en scène de Jean Vilar, enregistrée en public à Chaillot. Jean Vilar interprétait Dom Juan, Daniel Sorano était Sganarelle, et Monique Chaumette, Elvire. Avec eux sur scène : Georges Wilson, Georges Riquier, Philippe Noiret et Jean Topart. Cette pièce radiodiffusée, dont le deuxième acte avait été coupé, était suivie d'un débat animé par Philippe Dechartre au lycée Louis-Le-Grand. Don Juan ou Le Festin de Pierre est une comédie de Molière en cinq actes et en prose dont la "Troupe de Monsieur frère unique du roi" donna quinze représentations triomphales en février et mars 1665 sur le théâtre de la grande salle du Palais-Royal à Paris. Elle donne à suivre les trente-six dernières heures de la vie du jeune Dom Juan Tenorio, "esprit fort" et grand amateur de femmes, flanqué tout long des cinq actes de Sganarelle, valet couard, glouton et friand de disputes intellectuelles. Provocateur impénitent, Dom Juan n'échappera pas à la vengeance du Ciel, qui le châtiera par le bras d'une statue de pierre.
