Detroit Tigers lose to Pittsburgh Pirates in extra innings in the second game of the doubleheader. Colt Keith hit a clutch 2-run home run to tie the game at 4 and eventually force extra-innings, but after a rain delay Pittsburgh Pirates earned the 8-4 win. Pittsburgh Pirates Ke'Bryan Hayes hit a single in the 10th scoring scoring Tommy Pham on a bang-bang play that was reviewed but eventually Pham was called safe for the go-ahead run. Detroit Tigers still take two games of the 3 game series from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Detroit Tigers now hit the road to take on the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend.

Detroit Tigers beat Pittsburgh Pirates 9-2 behind Tarik Skubal’s 8th win of the season. Tarik Skubal pitched around traffic in the first inning and proceeded to toss 5.2 innings allowing 2 earned runs. Riley Greene and the Detroit Tigers offense went to work early and often scoring 5 runs in the first two innings. Zach McKinstry hit the games only home run as the Detroit Tigers cruised to the win and clinched a series win. Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates will play the finale of the series in the second game of the double header later this evening as the Detroit Tigers eye the sweep.
