À propos de cet audio

In May of 2020, the citizens of Richmond, Virginia took to the streets to protest racial inequality, police brutality and the monuments to confederate generals that line on our historical streets and city parks. As a result, African American artist and community activist, Hamilton Glass, chose to create a public art project that brought together artists from different cultural backgrounds to create murals that start conversation and heal the divides between us. That project is called Mending Walls. Host Hamilton Glass sits down with the artist pairings as they discuss their mural vision, their process and the hard conversations that they had throughout their collaboration.© 2025 19Red, llc Art Sciences sociales

  • Trust Building/s: Reliability
    Jul 25 2025

Hamilton talks with Artists Alfonso Perez and Noah Scalin about their recent collaboration. Trust Building/s is a four-part mural series that will spread throughout the city. These murals will be co-created with the community to come alive with the gestures, stories, and faces of real people shaped by hands that don’t all look the same but move in rhythm toward a shared goal. Each mural centered around one of the foundational elements of trust:

    • Consistency
    • Reliability
    • Honesty
    • Empathy

Honest conversations between real people who may not see eye to eye politically or socially but are willing to listen and connect will inspire each of them.
