Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Mississippi Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd. If you stepped outside early this morning, you felt something shift. We started mild at 42 degrees after yesterday's rain, but that cold front just kicked the door wide open. Right now? Tupelo sits at 31 degrees. Jackson's at 36. The Gulf Coast is holding on to 44. But the wind is *screaming*. Gusts are hitting 30 miles an hour. And they're not letting up. Along the coast, there's a Wind Advisory until 3 PM. But the bigger concern today? Fire danger. Humidity has crashed to 17 percent in spots. And with these winds, the National Weather Service issued Red Flag Warnings for nearly the entire southern half of the state. Any spark could turn into a fast-moving wildfire. No outdoor burning today. Not even a little. Now let's talk cold. Tonight, northern Mississippi drops to 23 degrees by 4 AM — feeling like 15 with the wind. Central Mississippi hits 28, but it'll feel like 21. Even the Gulf Coast, which started mild, crashes to 36 by dawn Monday. Frost is coming. Today's highs? Northern Mississippi peaks at 47 around 4 PM. Central Mississippi hits 52 by 3 PM. The Gulf Coast reaches 56 by 1 PM. But those winds stay relentless all day. Looking at the week ahead. Monday stays cold but starts warming fast. Tuesday jumps to 60 in Jackson, near 70 on the coast. Wednesday hits 73 — almost summer — but clouds roll in. Thursday brings storms, especially north, with heavy rain possible. Friday and Saturday dry out and warm even more, hitting 75 by Saturday. One quick thing. If this weather update helped you plan your day, share it with a friend who could use the heads-up. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
