A big cold snap is on the way next week for Thanksgiving.

We wrapped up this week on a mild note, with temperatures well into the 50s and 60s. As we go into the weekend however a cold front looks to change that. Friday evening into Saturday morning areas of showers will move with the front, but quickly clear out by Saturday afternoon.

Temperatures take a plunge and some of us will see our first snow flakes of the season.

After a cool and breezy Halloween with scattered showers, we dry out as we go into the weekend. The first day of November brings an overcast afternoon throughout the region.

As we head into the weekend we get a break from the chilly temperatures over this past week. The winds start to pick up on Saturday, with breezy south winds by the mid to late afternoon.

As we head to Saturday, we are keeping an eye on a shower or two that may slide across parts of South Dakota, and by the afternoon will slide into southwest Minnesota. Rain in these showers will be rather light however, and this will be the only chance for rain across the weekend for most of the region.

We will start the weekend with dry conditions, however Saturday evening will bring in some showers, that will stick around for some through the end of the weekend.

We say goodbye to the 80s and return to normal October weather.
