Good afternoon, Buckeyes! Welcome to the latest episode of our campus news podcast, bringing you the most recent updates and events from Ohio State University at Marion. Today is Monday, August 11, 2025, and here's what's happening on campus and in our community. - As we gear up for the new academic year, orientation sessions are in full swing. The next session is scheduled for tomorrow, August 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Maynard Hall. These sessions are essential for new students to familiarize themselves with campus resources and meet fellow Buckeyes. - For those interested in arachnology, the "Understanding Spiders Workshop" will be held from August 22 to August 24 at Stone Laboratory in Put-In-Bay. This workshop offers a deep dive into the fascinating world of spiders. - Mark your calendars! The autumn semester kicks off on Tuesday, August 26. Be sure to check your schedules and prepare for an exciting semester ahead. - Today, August 11, the Marion Public Library is hosting "Lapsit Baby Time," a program designed for infants and their caregivers to enjoy stories and songs together. - Also today, The Rec Center is organizing events tailored for teens. It's a great opportunity for young adults to engage in fun activities and meet new friends. - Motorcycle enthusiasts can head over to 191 Social at The Coop this evening for the Route 30 Harley-Davidson Bike Night. Enjoy live music, food, and a showcase of impressive bikes. - Our very own Associate Professors Chris Orban and Scott Zimmerman have been awarded a $20,000 grant from Ohio State Energy Partners. Their project, "The STEMcoding Data Science High School Curriculum Initiative," aims to integrate computer science and data science concepts into high school math and science classes. Congratulations to both professors on this achievement! - Chris Trapp, Director of Student Success Programming at Ohio State Marion, has successfully completed the inaugural Leadership Certificate Program offered through The Ohio State University John Glenn College of Public Affairs. This program is designed to enhance leadership skills across the university. Well done, Chris! - Prospective students, mark your calendars for October 2, 2025. Buckeye Preview Day is an excellent opportunity to learn about the academic programs, campus life, and resources available at Ohio State Marion.
