  • Deliverance (1972) Vintage Cinema Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 697
    Dec 8 2025

Spencer and Dave are going back to 1972 to watch the river rapids adventure film of four friends taking a trip into nature one last time before they dam the river, flood the valley, and destroy the landscape. What starts out as fun times and good time friendship, turns dark once a couple of hillbillies take advantage of them. The friendship bond is pushed to the limits and a fight for survival is imminent.

Starring Burt Reynolds, Jon Voight, Ned Beatty, and Ronny Cox. Directed by John Boorman from a Novel and Screenplay by James Dickey. This movie is an ultimate classic and still holds up strong as ever today. A lot of twists and turns on what will happen next. Some amazing banjo playing to boot too.

  • Rambo Last Blood (2019) Modern Cinema Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 695
    Nov 24 2025

Spencer and Dave finish off their Rambo movie run, this time with part 5, Last Blood. And the extended cut as well. Which really does make this the definitive way to watch this film. The extra 10 minute opening scene with Rambo working Search and Rescue adds a ton to his character and really seems like a perfect fit for his skills.

This movie plays out like a 70s revenge film. It has a slow burn to get going, then gets heavy and dark, and finishes off with some fantastic and brutal action scenes. Where Rambo goes to town of the drug lords and sets up all sorts of traps for them to fall prey too. Almost like the violence and action from the original First Blood book. Though this film might scare folks, especially outside of North America about ever wanting to go to Mexico.

If this is the final Sylvester Stallone Rambo we will get. It is a solid ending. Though, this film is a little different from the previous 4. I notice of a second viewing I was able to appreciate the film even better.

So out of the 5, what is the best Rambo film? Or, how do they stack in order to each other?

  • Harvester (1996) Review & Discussion - Silent Evil Podcast 17 - Survival Horror
    Nov 19 2025

Spencer and Cameron are going back to 1996 with the PC Point and Click Horror Adventure, Harvester. Probably one of the most brutal games out there in both violence, content, and humor. A game that puts the last 25 years plus of games to shame at how tame they are compared to the onslaught that this journey takes us on.

You play as Steve, a man who wakes up in a 1950s town with amnesia and has no idea what is going on. Except that everyone is telling you that you are getting married to a girl named Stephanie who also has amnesia. So, you go out and explore the town, meet the interesting characters about, and solve some mysteries while trying to make all head and tails of what is happening. You find The Lodge, a temple in the center of town that everything revolves around and then try to become a member.

This game is just beyond amazing in everything that it delivers, even if the controls are a little cumbersome at times. But the story is full tilt interesting to the very in, the characters are both ultra dark and hilarious all at the same time, and the classic horror elements of a Twilight Zone mystery are all there. This game came out the same year as Resident Evil 1 so you can see those proto horror game pieces coming together. With a live action style of graphics and FMVs, makes the game feel ultra realistic, especially for the time.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next.

  • Rambo (2008) Modern Cinema Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 694
    Nov 17 2025

Spencer and Dave are continuing their Rambo marathon, this time with part 4, John Rambo from 2008. Which might be the most violent, widely theatrically released movie of all time. The late 2000s to early 2010s was a glorious time of film, where great violence was pretty much guaranteed in every movie you watched. This sort of petered out in the mid 2010s with many movies going back to a PG 13 style. But for a short while movies were delivering NC 17 content in Rated R films. Punisher Warzone, Expendables, Grindhouse, Tropic Thunder, and of course Rambo to name a few.

In this film, Sylvester Stallone is back to wear the bandana and save the day, 20 years post Rambo 3. Once again he is trying to live a peaceful, somewhat retired life. But just when he thought he was out, they bring him back in as some Christian Americans want to try and bring some aid (and force some Christ) on the local Karen people. But the Burma militia has other plans and carnage ensues. Next Rambo is manning the boat for some Mercenaries but they have no idea what they are truly getting into. Rambo pulls out his bow, kicks some ass, and let's everyone know who's boss.

This film fires on all cylinders. And is up there as not only the top tier of Rambo experiences but just action movies in general. Something every action movie fan needs to see. We just watched the Extended Cut version and talk a little compare and contrast between it and the original theatrical version. It's similar to Sly's Rocky 4 director's cut, where there are some cool extra scenes added in but then some others taken out and rearranged. Making us want to see a third cut that just has it all in one.

  • The Running Man (1987) Vintage Cinema Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 693
    Nov 12 2025

Spencer and Dave go back to the 80s Arnold Schwarzenegger classic, The Running Man. A book by Stephen King that has the initial concept going for a Game Show styled survival challenge in a dystopian future. A story that has been used over and over throughout the years with Battle Royale, The Hunger Games, and Smash TV to name a few. But here is where it all started. Even though there is apparently a French movie called Le Prix Du Danger from 1983 that uses a very similar story too. Too bad it's next to impossible to find a decent translated copy in the USA.

The Arnie movie ups the ante on the book and creates a totally over the top comic book like feel that seems like an offshoot of a Paul Verhoven film. Beyond classic lines, great characters, fantastic action, and a movie filled with so much fun, you can't help but watch it over and over. It may not be Top 5 of Arnold's movies but it's definitely still a classic. Now to get pumped up for the 2025 Edgar Wright version and see how all three versions compare.

  • The Thing Game (2002) Review & Discussion - Silent Evil Podcast 16
    Nov 10 2025

Spencer and Cameron are diving into the classic PS2 survival horror game, The Thing from 2002. A sequel to the story of John Carpenter's The Thing movie of 1982 where you play as a group of Special Forces sent in to find out what has happened from Kurt Russell's team and the Norwegian Scientists. The ones from the prequel Thing movie. Carrying on the storyline that takes horror elements of the film and combines some story narration styles of Resident Evil and Half Life.

With a very cool team based system of trust and fear placed in. Ground breaking back in the day and sadly not really used by many games since. This one here is a very special movie tie in game that delivers across the board. And with the Nightdive Studio Remaster out on all systems, the perfect and easy way to experience the adventure. Or go old school and grab the PS2, Xbox Original, or Windows XP PC version.

Spencer and Dave are finishing off their Crocodile Dundee marathon with part 3 Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. Paul Hogan brings the winning formula back and the third film just feels right. Allowing Mick Dundee to do what he does best and add his Australian commentary now on Los Angeles as well as take care of some crime too. This movie fires on all cylinders and is right up there with the original.
