  • Mafia The Old Country Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 683
    Sep 16 2025

Spencer and Buddy are talking all about the latest Mafia game, The Old Country and enjoying the living daylights out of the whole gameplay experience and story. Asking the questions that go along with the other 3 games and how it all connects. This game is about as dialed in as one can get. All killer, no filler. Just to the point and without ever dragging on too long like so many video games out there are notorious for. This is the real deal and gives you the early 1900s Sicily experience in both its landscape and characters. We can't say more good things about this one.

Spencer and Dave are going back in time to 1992 and watching Quentin Tarantino's first film, Reservoir Dogs. For Dave, this his first time watch of the 90s classic that is part of the start of an alternative, independent change in film making. So, the twists, turns, and magic are all a brand new experience. Yet this film is always a fantastic watch, no matter how many times you have seen it. And boy does it make you want to make to go out and make a movie.

  • Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta Snake Eater Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 681
    Sep 11 2025

Spencer, Josh, and Cameron are talking all about their playthroughs of the new Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, Delta Snake Eater and how it compares to our original 2004 and beyond runs. Amazingly it's a 1 to 1 pure remake with new over the shoulder controls and a slightly different look using that Unreal graphic engine over the old MGS anime look. Still, the experience is great and it complements the old version nicely.

  • Point Break (1991) Vintage Cinema Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 680
    Sep 8 2025

Spencer and Dave are going back to 1991 to the Kathryn Bigelow surf and bank heist action flick! This is one of Spencer's all time favorite flicks growing up and it's Dave's first watch of the film. And funny enough, Fast and the Furious 1 practically takes this movie beat for beat and just changes surfing to auto racing.

Starring a young Keanu Reeves in his first action role along with the great Patrick Swayze, Lori Petty, Gary Busey, and even a cameo from Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Produced by James Cameron as well. So, it's a super cast and crew coming together to make one badass action film to start the 90s off right. It even has a couple of fantastic tunes by Ratt and LA Guns to really dive into the fun.

Johnny Utah an ex-quarterback and now FBI agent joins Angelo to take down bank robbers known as the ex-presidents who Angelo believes to be surfers. And of course, everyone else thinks this old guy is crazy. But it turns out to be true and Utah is going to have to go deep undercover and befriend the whole crew to take them down.

  • Silent Hill Shattered Memories - Retrospective Review - Silent Evil Podcast 13
    Sep 3 2025

Spencer and Cameron are going back to 2009/2010 to visit the Silent Hill reimaging game of Shattered Memories. Originally on the Nintendo Wii then ported to PS2 and PSP for a very late to the party game on the Playstation 2.

The story is Harry Mason lost in the town of Silent Hill, looking for his daughter, Cheryl. Just like the original. But beyond that start, the rest of the game goes for a vastly different take on the story. Starting out with a physiatrist therapy session and periodically coming back to this gameplay style, with questions that influence how each person's run will turn out. Something very interesting and neat that not a whole lot of other games do and this one may be the first.

You see a lot of the old characters like Cybil the cop, Lisa the nurse, and a very alternative take on Dahlia. They all have a new more American look in this version and less Japanese anime like the original game. That is due to the fact that this era of Silent Hill games is made by westerners. Which was a common trend around this time.

The game's story is really where it shines. It's a nice short run and every cutscene and character interaction keeps you pushing forward. It does have one odd gameplay mechanic where the town freezes up and then you have to do these running scenes and try and find the right door while a bunch of little kid monsters chase you. Interesting but defiantly the weak link to the game. But, this whole game has a lot of experimental gameplay going on, so it's to be expected that not everything will be revelational.

Overall, if you are a Silent Hill and Survival Horror fan, this game is totally worth the playthrough experience. Even with our spoiler filled discussion, it does not take away from your own personal journey with Harry in this adventure.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next.

  • The Loveless (1981) Vintage Cinema Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 678
    Sep 2 2025

Spencer and Dave are going back to 1981 to discuss the first film of Kathryn Bigelow with Monty Montgomery and Willem Dafoe.

A singular day in a small southern town with a goofy gang of bikers who think they are beyond cool and are trying to get to the Daytona races but one of them needs to repair his bike. So they are just chilling for the whole day. Meeting the locals and being regular hooligans in the process. Of course the town wants them gone or dead. Literally. And Willem Defoe is somehow swooning on all the ladies like he's Biker Coffin Joe. Though it's an early 80s film with a 50s aesthetic. The film plays out like a New Hollywood type with the classic dark and dry ending too. A hang out picture, where not much happens but just the interaction between different characters in a couple of different settings. The diner, the garage, and the bar/motel. Definitely inspired by the Marlon Brando's The Wild One with elements of Easy Rider thrown in. The whole experience is strange, silly, scary, and interesting all at the same time.
