In this lesson of Sūrah Al-Ḥijr (verses 67–84), Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf explains how Allah recounts the story of Lūṭ and the consequences of disbelief and corruption. The verses recount how the people of Lūṭ, intoxicated by lust and wrongdoing, rejected his warnings and threatened his guests. Despite his pleas, they persisted in their sin. Allah’s punishment then overtook them at sunrise, turning their cities upside down and raining stones of baked clay upon them. The ruins of these nations remain along well-known routes as a clear sign for those who reflect. The episode reminds believers of Allah’s justice, the certainty of His punishment for persistent wrongdoing, and the importance of heeding His messengers.
