Reaching for Agreement — Part 4 How Unity is Practiced
“Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement… knit together in the same mind and the same purpose.”
— 1 Corinthians 1:10
Shared purpose is not built in grand gestures.
It is formed in small, faithful choices.
We practice agreement when we listen before we argue.
When we seek understanding instead of winning.
When we choose curiosity over contempt.
We move closer to the same mind when we refuse to reduce one another to labels, headlines, or talking points—and instead see neighbors, coworkers, and strangers as people beloved by God.
Every act of patience repairs a small tear.
Every act of kindness tightens the thread.
Every act of love helps knit us back together.
Agreement does not mean the absence of difference.
It means the presence of commitment—to one another, and to the good we share.
This is how unity grows: quietly, patiently, and on purpose.
