Welcome to Read Along Radio, the podcast that turns reading struggles into reading success with exciting and thrilling stories.

In the last episode, Robin agreed to help Mary but he is still going to try to prove to her (and himself) that Poppy’s owner is dead.

In this episode, Robin thinks he’s found Poppy’s previous owner. A Mrs. Bulaski had owned a Pekingese when she died, but her grandson, Raoul Rankin had taken the dog with him when he left. Robin decides to focus on finding Poppy a new owner rather than continue his quest to find out about her previous one.

Welcome to Read Along Radio, the podcast that turns reading struggles into reading success with exciting and thrilling stories.

In the last episode, we learned how Mary got Robin to look for the owner of Poppy, the Pekingese at the pound who is scheduled for euthanasia. Because Robin thinks the dog in the cage next to Poppy told him Poppy’s owner is dead, Robin wants to prove this—not just to convince Mary to stop trying to find Poppy’s owner, but also to convince himself that the dog really did talk to him. Robin’s uncle Damian told him that he must be special if dogs talk to him like he thinks, and Robin wants to be special.

In this episode, we’ll join Robin as he tries to help Mary while still trying to find proof that Poppy’s owner has died.

Here is a rescue story about a dog whose owner died. Roger heard his neighbor’s dog, Harper, barking incessantly one morning. Since this was unusual behavior for the dog, Roger went next door to see if his neighbor was home. He could hear the television, but no one answered the door. He called the authorities to request a welfare check. They found Roger’s neighbor unconscious on the floor. He was transported to the hospital where they learned he’d had a heart attack. Sadly, he didn’t survive.

When no one came for the dog, Roger again called the authorities to inform them of the situation. His neighbor had no close relatives, and Roger was told that the animal control officer would be sent over to pick up Harper. It would be kept at the pound for a week, and then probably be put to sleep. Roger asked if he could take Harper to his house instead. If someone came to claim it, Roger would give it up; otherwise, he would keep it. As you can probably guess, Roger wound up keeping the dog, and they are still living happily together.

POPPY starts out in a similar manner. Poppy’s doting owner is dead, but the person who was supposed to take care of her dumped her in the street on his way out of town. She ended up behind bars at the local pound. Next stop, euthanasia. The needle. Death. Robin Kould and Mary Yen race against time to find Poppy an owner before it’s too late, but Robin winds up in imminent danger. How can they save Poppy when Robin himself is in need of a rescue?"

In chapters 1 and 2 of POPPY, the second in the Robin Kould and Mary Yen Rescue Series by T Heights, listeners will hear how Mary gets Robin to look for the owner of Poppy, the Pekingese in the cage next to a dog Robin thinks has talked to him. Because he believes what the dog has told him, Robin thinks Poppy’s owner is dead. He decides to prove this—not just to convince Mary to stop trying to find Poppy’s owner, but also to convince himself that the dog next to Poppy really did talk to him. Robin’s uncle Damian told him that he must be special if dogs talk to him like he thinks, and Robin really, really wants to be special—at anything, to anybody, for whatever reason.

Listen as Caitlin Williams, the same awesome voice actress who read BOMBO, puts you in the midst of Robin and Mary’s race against time to save Poppy.
