Ugh, this guy. So glad this is the last I'm gonna have to talk about this douche canoe.

Colombo was not the hero he has been made out to be. No, he is not known to be a kind man by historians, cutting off hands for missed taxes, " giving" native women to his friends to do with what they wanted, and forcing native people into dark dank mines to extract the resources deep under ground.

His arrival opened the door for all matter of men with cruel, greedy intentions to sail across the sea in search of fortune, with absolutely no regard for the lives of those who already inhabited the land.

And so next year when " Columbus Day rolls around, learn about the local native community in your area and get involved with their community. It is the least we can do after being given the gift of birth on their land by the Creator.

Boy do we have a sad story for yall today.

Living in the mountains we have experience with feeling safe from natural disasters. But just last year Mother Nature showed us even we are not safe from her wrath.

And that was a hard lesson residents of Galveston learned in September of 1900. After a few decades of having storms pass them by the residents of this booming island city felt that they were safe from any that might come their way.

Add to that a political pissing match between the US and Cuban governments that brought communications to a halt, Galveston was terribly unprepared for the Cat 4 hurricane that was coming their way. And due to that, this city saw one of, if not the largest lost of life within the US. Thousands of lives were lost due to mans folly.

We are back this week with another lesson about the evils of wealthy white people. I know that that statement can offend a lot of folks, but that is the fact of today's story.

After a long summer of violence and oppression across the country, another black community came under attack when sharecroppers formed a Union to fight for more fair portions of the profits considering they were the ones doing all the work, and seeing little return.

But anytime black people attempt to build something better for themselves, a certain group of individuals can't stand to see it, so they use any excuse to beat them back down, and keep them oppressed and subjugated.

Only recently has the true horrors of this particular event been uncovered and if our government has their way, they will be buried again. Reports claim only 11 black people were murdered but the truth is it could have been as many as 800. But we will never know the truth.

We are back this week and less covidy so we have another missing persons case for you today.

There are many reasons I have never stepped foot on a cruise ship, but one of the biggest is the fear of someone I love going missing.

And that fear hit the Bradley family in March of 1998 when Amy Lynn Bradley went missing from a Royal Caribbean ship her family was on for vacation. What happened next was failings from every department and organization brought on to investigate this disappearance.

And 27 years later there have been very few leads into what happened to Amy and where she could be now.

This week Ian wanted to take a crack at some history after an experience he recently had.

Recently a relative got married and on his way to the ceremony Ian spotted a home whos yard was overflowing with little black statues. Curious he looked them up and was shocked to read what he did about the history of lawn jockeys.

It's a complicated history, that no one is really sure where it started from. But we do know today that having this statues in ones yard is a glaring red flag for many people, namely black people.

This week we are going to the land of sea and sand, the beautiful islands of Hawaii. These islands have been a favorite vacation destination for families for over a century, but it has not always been a US state.

For hundreds of years the island was home to Polynesian descendants who made the islands their home. The Europeans found the islands and soon began harvesting her resources. Before long, a group of white business men felt they had more right to the land than the native did and sought out to take control of the islands by force.

The people of Hawaii have never stopped seeking to regain their sovereignty and I hope that one day control of the land will be given back to her rightful rulers.
