  • Shinedown | Audacy LIVE | 1.7.26
    Jan 7 2026

To celebrate the release of their latest single, "Searchlight," Shinedown joins us for a special Audacy LIVE, as the band talks with Rob + Holly about the making of the track, and performs the song exclusively inside our Audacy Sound Space.

"The song just kind of came to us. It didn't take long to write, and when it came to, it just lent itself to that kind of thing," shares Zach Myers. "We're never like, 'this is the only chart we haven't been on. Let's go to this chart,' because then the next one we'd have to make like an R&B record. We've been on 5 so far."

"That's one thing I respect so much about the Country world is, a good song is a good song is a good song, and that's all we care about. Whatever the song lends itself to is what we want it to be, we're never gonna try to force something."

"The whole reason that we've been able to be able to be authentic and honest is because radio has allowed us to do that, our fan base has allowed us to do that." reveals Brent Smith. "You have to have something to say, and for 'Searchlight,' when we were in there, the initial first run of the song, it was a different song, and then I sat with it for a few days, went back into the studio with everybody, and said, 'let me re-sing this.'"

"I just heard it differently than what had been presented in the demo," adds Brent. "And, you know, me and Zach were born and raised in Tennessee. He's 901, I'm 865, so Memphis and Knoxville. We were raised on Country music. We were raised on a lot of different music, but for the song, I just went in and said, 'let me do this and just hear me out.'"

"We added a banjo because it asked for a banjo. We added a steel guitar and a slide because it asked for that, and it had more of an endearing quality because I sang it with a bit more of a draw. We have some people that listen to it that are in Country music that are like, 'this is very Country,' and then we have some people who are like, 'I don't know if it's Country,' and that's fine because at the end of the day we had to be honest with the song. We're a vessel for these songs. We have to be very open and allow the universe to talk to us."

For more from Shinedown on their relationships with Carrie Underwood and Jelly Roll, and stories behind other hits like "Second Chance," don't miss the band's full conversation with Rob + Holly and a special performance of "Searchlight" above.

  • Riley Green | Friday Night Takeover
    Dec 8 2025

Riley Green recently joined Rob + Holly for a wide-ranging talk during the 'Friday Night Takeover,' unpacking a few of his biggest songs, diving into his duck calling skills, and sharing some of the worst lines he's had to endure.

After comparing compliments and pickup lines with Rob, thanks to their equally epic mustaches, Riley shared that the worst lines he can't even share. "The top 10 worst are not things that we could discuss on the air," Green notes. "'Excuse me, you like you love me' is probably the most annoying one at this point," he adds. "I just love it when somebody says it and they think that they're the first person that's ever said it."

Since a pair of sultry songs with Ella Langley, the romantic life of Riley Green has been a hot topic, which is fine by him as long as it leads them to the music. "I've kind of looked at it like, anything that points people towards my music or finding out who I am or whatever, is probably a good thing," he admits. "There's a strange interest in my personal life over the last year or so, without me saying or really doing anything. They come up with all these hypothesis their selves, so it's fun for me to sit here and watch, and all my buddies, my family, they all get entertainment by seeing these speculations about who I'm dating or what I'm doing and, if it introduces somebody to my music, I guess it's all right."

Riley remains willing to fuel the speculation though, offering to confirm false rumors to Rob + Holly on the show. They did land on a little truth too, when they asked Green if he ever did want to have children of his own. "I have an interest in kids, just not 17, you know what I mean? I don't want a basketball team," he jokes, compared to friend Thomas Rhett who is expecting his 5th child in March. "I'm looking for like just a couple of little kids to hang out with."

  • Lainey Wilson | Friday Night Takeover
    Dec 1 2025

It's just a couple of CMA Award winners chatting when Lainey Wilson joined Rob + Holly recently for the 'Friday Night Takeover.' The 'Entertainer of the Year' talked with the 'Daily National Broadcast Personalities of the Year' about her experience hosting Country Music's Biggest Night, her wide-ranging line of Christmas merch, and her cooking skills on cusp of getting married.

"My goal was to just try to remind everybody how cool it is that we get to do this," Lainey said of her turn hosting the 59th Annual CMA Awards. "I just, I wanted it to feel like a big old celebration, and that's what it felt like for me at least."

With a new Christmas EP out now, 'Peace, Love, and Cowboys,' the Lainey Wilson merch store went hard featuring Lainey stockings, ornaments, wrapping paper and more. But don't expect a Lainey Wilson cookbook to hit the shelf anytime soon. "You don't want a cookbook for me," smiles Lainey "I'm not gonna say like I'm not good at it, I just haven't done it enough. I feel like I'm always on the go where I don't really just have time to cook a good meal. But hopefully this Christmas season I'm gonna challenge myself to try to cook Duck a few meals because he's gotta see that I'm actual real wife material."

"I think he's OK with everything else that's going on," laughs Rob. "You don't have to cook."

"He wants to know he's gonna starve to death," Wilson retorts, noting that her soon-to-be-husband Duck is a good cook in his own right. "Yes, he can throw it down," she exclaims. "He can just whip it up, and even if I am in the kitchen trying to do something, he'll come in there and he'll like start putting stuff in the skillet, and I'm like, 'hold up, mind your business.'"

For much more from Lainey Wilson, check out the full conversation above.
