  • First Nations representation in media: What’s changing, why it matters - Reprezentasaun Ema Nasaun Dahuluk iha Mídia: Saida maka muda, tanbasá ida-ne'e importante
    Jul 10 2025
The representation of Indigenous Australians in media has historically been shaped by stereotypes and exclusion, but this is gradually changing. Indigenous platforms like National Indigenous Television (NITV) and social media are breaking barriers, empowering First Nations voices, and fostering a more inclusive understanding of Australia’s diverse cultural identity. Learning about these changes offers valuable insight into the country’s true history, its ongoing journey toward equity, and the rich cultures that form the foundation of modern Australia. Understanding Indigenous perspectives is also an important step toward respectful connection and shared belonging. - Reprezentasaun hosi ema Indíjena Australianu sira iha mídia, istórikamente hetan forma hosi estereótipu no eskluzaun, maibé ida-ne'e muda daudaun ona. • What is Closing the Gap?  - Saida maka taka lakuna?
    May 14 2025
Australia has one of the highest life expectancies in the world. On average, Australians live to see their 83rd birthday. But for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, life expectancy is about eight years less. Closing the Gap is a national agreement designed to change that. By improving the health and wellbeing of First Nations, they can enjoy the same quality of life and opportunities as non-Indigenous Australians. - Australia has one of the highest life expectancies in the world.
