This Week’s Listener Question:
Why do you think imposter syndrome is so prevalent today? What are some practical strategies women can use when the voice in their heads is telling them they’re an imposter?
SOUL Group Questions:
Ask each other these questions to build a stronger connection with a friend or in your Soul Group.
Imposter Syndrome is the feeling that your success is not deserved and that you’re secretly not as competent as others think you are, even when you are capable and have evidence of your abilities or achievements.
1. When does imposter syndrome show up for you? Where are you? How are you feeling? Can you define any patterns around these occurrences?
2. Laura and Jess shared how they’ve been called too much, too loud, and too controlling. How would you complete this sentence? People have said I’m too…
3. Remembering all the challenges you’ve faced in the past can build self-confidence and diminish imposter syndrome. Make a list of 3-5 times in your life you have endured hardship or persevered through challenges. Congratulations!
4. Another strategy to reduce imposter syndrome is to focus on the facts, not just your feelings. What are you learning? How are you growing? Who are you becoming? These kinds of questions can fuel your confidence and help you believe in your unique abilities and remarkable achievements.
5. Application – Share with a trusted friend or family member something you’re proud of or something you’re doing that makes a difference in the world. How can you celebrate small victories in your life?
