We are joined by Australia Grey Ashes cricketer Alan 'Muggo' Muggleton. We were hoping that former Australian fast bowler Len Pascoe would also be joining this episode – but unfortunately at the last minute Len couldn't make the recording due to troubles with the Internet connection from where he was holidaying.

We talk about the Grey Ashes, the Ashes series coming up and Muggo gives us a lowdown on the Australia O60s nationals which have just finished in Wollongong.

At that point Ron had raised an incredible £32000 for the Bob Willis Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund

Ron told us that six months later the fundraising walks would finish on his 75th birthday - September 15th 2024 - at Lords

Well over a year later from that proposed finish the awareness and fundraising continues and Ron has just returned from an amazing cricket tour of the Vatican

We catch up with Ron and discover he’s just as enthusiastic and energised as he was when we first met. Probably more so!

Sir Tim Rice loves cricket, so much so that back in the early 70s he set up his own side – Heartaches CC – which is still going strong today. In the second week of September for over the 40th time the Heartaches came down to Cornwall to play three matches.

I was lucky enough to play for the Heartaches against Falmouth on the Thursday and then against them for my long-standing club side Mullion on the Friday.

During the Friday match I caught up with Tim and he talked about his love of cricket, how he got started playing cricket, and how he sees cricket moving forward.

We think we've covered almost 900 matches on this podcast during the domestic season which has now ended.

So this is our review of the 2025 O60s and O70s cricket season.

We look back on some fantastic batting, bowling and fielding achievements and congratulate those who top the charts

We will continue with the Silver Stumps podcast during the autumn and winter with a series of guests lined up so that we can produce an episode roughly every two weeks

This week it's been what has become an annual end to the O60s cricket season with the Tri-Nations tournament featuring six matches in three days with all four competing sides playing against each other.

Unfortunately the weather intervened and only three of the six matches took place.

So we look at what happened between England and the England Lions, Scotland and Wales and then the final match to beat the weather which was England Lions versus Scotland

Six of the eight O60s finals finally got the go ahead from the weather and all finished on Tuesday Sept 9th

We cover them all

Along with the two O70s finals that were played on Thursday Sept 4th. Unfortunately the O70s Cup final between Oxfordshire and Kent on Thursday Sept 11th was abandoned so the trophy is shared

And what about our prediction competition?

Grant and Trevor each predicted a winner for all 11 O60s and O70s finals - so who won? Did Trevor retain the trophy or did Grant make it 1-1 in the series?

Having experienced hardly any cancellations due to adverse weather the weather finally got involved on finals week!

A number of the O60s finals scheduled for Tuesday Sept 2nd were postponed until Tuesday Sept 9th

We are recording on Wednesday Sept 3rd as Trevor is away from early on the 4th. We cover the O60s finals that survived plus the re-arranged O70s semi-finals that happened on Sunday August 31st
