University of Florida students Sonja Larson, Christina Powell, Manuel Taboada, and Tracy Inez Paules, as well as Santa Fe College student Christa Hoyt, were all brutally murdered in August 1990. The killer, who came to be known as the Gainesville Ripper, was caught and convicted. Kayla, a young woman just out of high school, discovers there are fake images of her on a violent porn site. But it wasn't just her. It was a whole group of women from her high school. The police, though, said these deepfakes, created by artificial intelligence, weren't illegal. So, they banded together to fight back. We are basing our discussion on an episode of CBC's Crime Story with Kathleen Goldhar, titled ⁠He posted fake images of them on a porn site. Now these women are fighting back⁠.
