À propos de cet audio

On Somewhere on the Screen is a film and television podcast hosted by three friends and artsy people -- Nicholas Westemeyer, Joseph Reese, and Christopher Moss. Each cycle, we'll choose an upcoming film or TV show to cover and choose three pieces to examine leading up to which we think will be vital to understanding the film. Then, we'll finish the cycle by talking about the big release in resplendent glory and see just how far off we were with our predictions of what would be important and more importantly, what we thought of the thing!

Above all else, we're here to have fun and enjoy talking about things we love with people we love. Come and join us as we keep our mind in the clouds and our eyes Somewhere on the Screen!

  • Episode 13: Frankenstein (1931) & Young Frankenstein
    Nov 12 2025

We're talking about the original Frankenstein this week! del Toro has been out talking about this was his big inspiration for...everything! With this, at the very least, being the inspiration for his new Frankenstein movie we figured we'd take a look and see what all the hub bub was about. Oh! Also...Chris is tired of spooky crap so he demanded we watch Young Frankenstein. Funny! Comedy! Happiness!!!

We're watching both! You can find Frankenstein (1931) on Prime Video but if you're looking for Young Frankenstein you may need to do your own bit of science to bring it back from the dead cause that thing isn't streaming anywhere. We only found it through a bit of string pulling on a person's Plex account that we know. But it's fun!

On to the shows and come back next week for our discussion of del Toro's Frankenstein!

  • Episode 12 - Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
    Oct 29 2025

This week we're taking a deep dive into Nick's childhood with a viewing of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein! This is a film Nick saw on TNT when he was young that stuck with him and was clearly formative in his views on monster movies and horror. Will it hold up? More importantly, what does it tell us about cinema views the pitfalls of literary horror? Also...did Chris watch this thing? I'm not sure he watched it!
