In this Space & Satellite futures podcast, we speak with Victor Hoskins, President and CEO of Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA).
Victor Hoskins is President and CEO of the Fairfax County (Va.) Economic Development Authority (FCEDA). He is an MIT trained Urban Planner and Real Estate Executive currently
overseeing the growth of the largest economy in Virginia (GDP$167 billion), the #1 State for Business, as ranked by CNBC, for a record-breaking 6th time in 2024. Having worked in the public and private sectors, his career has taken him from Wall Street to Main Street, and he has expanded economies from Los Angeles/Long Beach to the Mid-Atlantic region.
At FCEDA, Mr. Hoskins has led a team that has secured more than $3 billion in capital investment across 669 deals working with companies that have announced the creation of more than 54,000 jobs, nearly 7.5 million square feet of commercial office space and more than 1.3 million square feet of data centers. Companies that have announced new locations or expansion in Fairfax County under Mr. Hoskins' leadership include Microsoft, Google, Meta, Amazon Web Services, Volkswagen Group of America, Amentum, Guidehouse, Starkist, Qualtrics, Alarm.com, Hilton, Clark Construction, Blue Origins, V2X and The Aerospace Corporation.
Prior, Mr. Hoskins spearheaded economic development for Arlington (Va.) and brought Amazon HQ2 to Northern Virginia attracting $4 billion in private capital investment and 37,500 new jobs. Mr. Hoskins also collaborated with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership to implement a $1.5 billion Tech Talent Pipeline program that has resulted in the creation of two tech innovation campuses. As Deputy Mayor of the District of Columbia, Mr. Hoskins' team transformed Washington with projects such as City Center, the Wharf and Union Market.
Mr. Hoskins holds an Honors undergraduate degree from Dartmouth and has held executive leadership positions in real estate in both the public and private sectors. He currently serves on multiple boards including Northern Virginia Economic Development Alliance, Connected DMV, Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Chamber of Commerce and Capital Area Food Bank. He received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023 and is frequently chosen for lists of the most influential business leaders in Virginia and the Greater Washington area.
