  • Carving in Cornwall with Felix Lane
    Dec 17 2024

In this episode, I talk to Felix Lane @felix_the_wood, a young and talented greenwood carver from Cornwall, UK. Felix carved his first spoon at the age of 11 and has been honing his craft ever since. His enthusiasm is unmistakable, and it’s great to see a young man find something that gives him not only joy but also a drive and direction in his life.

Felix has always had the support of his family, particularly his mum, who showed that it’s possible to make a living by creating things and following your passion. He was fortunate to find a mentor early on in Dominic Pierce @cornishwoodsmith, a local, experienced, and established craftsman. Through this connection, Felix gained access to tools, materials, and valuable knowledge, which opened up the world of working with wood and helped him grow into the talented maker he is today.

Felix now sells his work at markets and through a shared website with his mother https://www.lauralane.co.uk/collections/felix-the-wood .

I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation.
