  • #157 The "Dream" Murder
    Nov 25 2024

We’ve all heard of lucid dreaming before, right? But what would you do if you had a dream, that was not only extremely vivid and terrifying, but later the police tell you a brutal murder had occurred just a few doors down, in an eerily similar fashion to your dream? Do you think you'd tell the police what you “Saw” in your dream? Or do you think you'd try and brush it off as mere coincidence? I mean.. Whats the worst that could happen right?

  • #156 The Strange Case of Condy Dabney
    Oct 14 2024

In October 1925, a young girl's body was discovered at the bottom of a mineshaft near Coxton, Kentucky. Even though the remains were practically unrecognizable, the authorities identified her as 14-year-old Mary Vickery, who had gone missing two months earlier. In March of 1926, Condy Dabney, a married father of two and former miner, was accused of her murder and quickly indicted.

Seems like an open and shut case right? Except, Mary Vickery was in fact, very much alive. And the remains that were found at the bottom of the mineshaft.. have never been identified.

This podcast came up as a recommendation on my Spotify. I've still not listened to True Crime Guys, but I plan on it.
I really enjoy listening to Michael and his conversational style. I enjoy the fact that he doesn't edit out the times when he trips over his words or makes mistakes. It gives some levity to the episodes when the subject is quite serious. There is joking and a bit of laughter, but never at the victims expense. I also appreciate that he brings to light the more unknown cases, especially the ones that deal with people of colour. Michael will talk about cases even when there isn't much information. I love Lorne's synopsis. He gives details that stood out to him and gives his opinions very clearly. Also the theme song for it is so, so good. I totally rock out to it when it comes on.
Michael has a great voice to listen to, and I like it when his wife joins as well. But she is soft spoken, so the only criticism that I have is that I can't always hear her properly (I am not caught up completely, so this may have been fixed already).
Strange and Unexplained is so good I've joined the Patreon. The Strange Stories are so amazing (the main reason for my Patreon joinage) and the strange shorts are hilarious. (I still maintain that there needs to be merch that is shorts with the word 'Strange' on the bum)
I highly recommend this. 10/10 I'll keep listening as long as it lasts

Excellent Podcast - I've been hooked completely
