The Creative Exchange is a podcast where the host, Kelly Kringen, hosts weekly conversational interviews with different artists of all mediums, backgrounds, and professions. Each episode begins with a similar introduction of the artist brought by questions such as “When did you first get into art?” and “How have you navigated being an artist in today’s world?” With a focus on uncovering each individual artist’s unique perspective and creative upbringing, the podcast aims to offer its listeners an intimate look into the lives of artists and shed light on their creative individuality.
In the first episode of The Creative Exchange, I am joined by artist, director, and producer Chris Renaud, who is famous for his pioneering work on films such as the Despicable Me franchise, Secret Life of Pets, and The Lorax. We begin the interview by discussing surface-level topics such as Chris’ professional timeline as an artist, then slowly dive into his deepest inspirations, his creative process, and how he tackles inevitable obstacles as a creative. The episode ends with talks of his time at Syracuse and how being a student there helped him get to where he is now.
