This commentary will focus on Chapter 32:22-32, specifically on the subject of prayer and the condition our heart and soul must be in as we pray in order to receive G-d's answer and an optimal response. The example will be taken from Ya'akov's life, what he learned beyond his previous experiences, and how the lessons he learned apply to us today.

Today I am going to focus on the remarkable and usually unexplained process Ya'akov used in breeding livestock that would be designated as his wages for working for Lavan. Biblical application will be discussed. I will also discuss the question many people have asked me about the "trickery" of which Ya'akov was guilty in more than one situation. This subject is also specifically covered in a subsequent podcast for a more detailed response.

Today I respond to the following questions I received through the website:

    1. Why is the word G-d not spelled out or even spoken when the Bible spells it out?

    2. Do you believe in the 5- fold ministry: Prophet, apostle, preacher, teacher, evangelist?

    3. Do you believe you are Torah observant out of love for the L-rd or do you believe being Torah observant draws you closer to the L-rd?

    4. Can a gentile wear a tallit? I wear tzitzit but not all the time. I want to wear one all the time to be dedicated to the L-rd.

    5. I found out or read the gospels didn't have titles 1e. Mathew, Mark, Luke, John until a few hundred years ago and there were no chapters or verses.

Today I am going to delve into the meaning of Isaiah 52-3 from a Messianic Jewish perspective, traditional Jewish perspective, and the Christian perspective.

It is important to understand that not only has the Messiah already come, but that He will return as the same Messiah as the conquering King this time and not the suffering servant as the first time. The progression of this lesson is as follows:

    The Servant's Submission

    The Servant's Substitution

    The Servant's Sinlessness

    The Servant's Satisfaction

In this commentary I will discuss the need for continued humble and heartfelt prayer and study of G-d's Word for those who really want to become close to G-d and receive the prize of salvation and an eternity with Him in heaven. Possible causes for delayed answers to our prayers are discussed.

I also discuss the importance of attitudes in our speech and actions using the narrative of Esav trading his birthright for food!

I also discuss the significance of the Abimelech narrative to our understanding of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict and the ramifications of the continued harassment and attacks on G-d's people which is ultimately destruction for those who subscribe to such treatment.

In this lesson Rabbi Davis discusses tools Satan uses to distract and separate us from G-d. This is known in Kabbalah as the Kelipah (Shell). We must be aware of these distractions and overcome them with prayer and continued study, internalizing, and living according to G-d's Torah, for darkness cannot exist where there is light.

A dominant theme in this week's parashah is how Avraham organized his life in preparation for the next generation, even in the loss of his beloved Sarah. In this commentary I will discuss how Avraham arranged his life and priorities to achieve synchrony with G-d's will and how we can prepare our legacy as well.
