  • 159. Tattoos, Pets and Holiday Traditions!
    Dec 8 2025

With Amy goofing off on another "Mommy and Me" trip, D2 once again steps bringing her unique perspective to a number of topics.

Well, we cannot blame Amy that these episodes take some many twists and turns "Down the Rabbit Hole" since she's not even involved.

Listen has Lindsey talks about her fur babies and not so furry baby. That discussion leads the expanding number of tattoos this family has and who must be to blame.

It ends with a discussion of Holiday Traditions and what's important to families.

What traditions come to mind when you think back over the holidays? Are there any that have fallen by the wayside and you would like to start up again? What are some new traditions that you look forward to each year?

  • 158. Hard Seltzers and Micro Repellants!
    Nov 24 2025

Amy and Tim take a different approach to their "opening" of this episode as Amy selects a hard seltzer for Tim. The discussion surrounds "Micro-Repellants" a topic from Liz Rose, a body language expert.

Tim and Amy review five repellents and discuss whether some of them might actually be more macro, than micro.

Are humble brags ever a good thing?

  • 157. Those Pesky Rodents! (No, it's not the Grandkids!)
    Nov 17 2025

It is that time of year as the weather turns colder that we find unwanted boarders making themselves at home in our houses.

Amy and Tim discuss the trouble with mice and their attempts to rid them from their domiciles. Who else would you suspect to be the "Mouser-in-Chief" in Amy's house? One hint: It is not the one who should be the most obvious!

We end the discussion with another item from "Return to Civility," where the discuss takes a turn to how much should we consider other people when we need to advance our agenda?

  • 156. Dogs and Cats and Airplane Seats?
    Nov 11 2025

What else would expect Amy and Tim to talk about?

The conversation comes back to our precious pets and who has whom trained. Can there really be a stupid dog, or is he just playing dumb to get what he wants.

Then there is the inevitable rabbit hole, as we revisit "Return to Civility: A Speed of Laughter Project. " The conversation turns toward airplane seats and are you giving up yours? Under what conditions would you change seats for a less desirable location?

Thank you to all our listeners and followers! We really appreciate your support when you listen and share. Please let us know if you have topics you want us to tackle. We can be reached at ThatsNotWhatMomSaid@gmail.com

  • 155. Don't Be A Dick
    Nov 4 2025

At some point in our childhood we all were told, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

As well most of us we also told to "treat others like you want to be treated."

Obviously these messages didn't catch with some people in the world today. In this episode's Dad Blab, Tim brings a simple message — Don't Be a Dick!

This comes from the recent road trip taken to Kentucky, a 12-hour ordeal behind the wheel and having to navigate the interstates that bisect across America's flyover country!

Of course the conversation lands on the use of maps and navigation. How much thought do you put into the route you are taking if you have a major road trip planned? Do you trust the technology like Amy, or do you develop contingencies just in case?

  • 154. Amy's Obsession with the Cold!
    Oct 27 2025

From Oymyakon to Antarctica to Mount Everest, Amy seems to fixate on the coldest places on the planet. Listen to as she describes her latest obsession.

How does Tim get out of a sticky conversation? Just bring on some beer (or would that make things worse?) It's another Friday on Tap with Beer and Banter between Amy and Tim.

Note: A few corrections for this episode:

    1. The correct name is Ernest Henry Shakleton - not Shakleford.

    2. The sitcom John Lithgow starred in was "Third Rock from the Sun" not "Third Planet."

  • 153. It's Really About being Civil to Each Other!
    Oct 20 2025

Amy and Tim discuss ways we all can be a little more civil (or not!) to each other. What small act of kindness have you received or witnessed, and how did it make you feel?

What's the proper way to handle a cold? Should you push through it and continue work, or should you step back, take some time off and get better to be at top performance? Listen to Amy did. (Of course Tim, without needing to work...)

Finally, what else can you do when you buy a pitcher and no one else is drinking beer? Yup, you have to drink it by yourself.

What's more important for a taproom - the product of the vibe?

  • 152. October Weather and Corporate Benefits!
    Oct 13 2025

What does one thing have to do with another? Well, when it comes to "That's Not What Mom Said," absolutely nothing!

Amy and Tim sit down for another episode of "Friday on Tap" or "Beers and Banter" and wind up talking about October weather and remembering the 1991 Halloween Snowstorm that hit the Twin Cities.

From there the conversation winds to corporate benefits and pensions — where have they gone, you almost need a magnifying lens to see them anymore.

And what the hell is a "Clinker" and how is it derogatory?
