À propos de cet audio
This week, Dale welcomes a special guest — George Jackson, Music Director with The Amarillo Symphony. Now in his fourth year leading the orchestra, George brings a wealth of experience and energy to the Amarillo music scene. In addition to his work with the symphony, he shares his expertise with students at Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University.
Originally from London, George is the 18th Music Director of The Amarillo Symphony. His passion for music began early, creating theatrical performances with his sister and learning the violin as a child. Over time, he expanded his musical horizons, performing as a drummer and guitarist in post-punk, rock, and Irish folk bands — influences that continue to shape his broad musical taste today.
George’s formative experiences include participating in the Lucerne Festival Academy and the Aspen Music Festival, where he earned the Aspen Conducting Prize in 2015. Deeply passionate about the art and traditions of conducting, he regularly shares his insights and enthusiasm through podcasts dedicated to the craft. Join Dale and George for an engaging conversation about music, education, and the creative journey behind leading one of Texas’s premier symphonies.
