    Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Folks, you're waking up to something special. High pressure slid east overnight. and that cracked open the door for warm Gulf air to rush north. Step outside right now and you'll feel that southerly breeze. It's carrying summer on its back. Little Rock hits 79 degrees this afternoon. That's 43 degrees above normal for late February. In the next 24 hours. Central Arkansas, you're the warmest spot today — 79 degrees under nothing but sunshine. Northwest Arkansas climbs to 76, but watch for a slight chance of rain after noon as a weak disturbance brushes by. Northeast Arkansas settles at 74 degrees with clear skies all day. One heads-up for western and northwestern sections. Humidity drops to around 30 percent this afternoon. That means elevated wildfire danger. Skip the burn pile today. Tonight, temperatures ease into the upper 40s and low 50s. but a cold front drops south after midnight. and that changes everything. Sunday flips the script. Central Arkansas cools to 67 degrees with a slight chance of showers by afternoon. Northwest Arkansas sees 63 and a 5043 degrees shot at rain. Northeast Arkansas drops to 57 with showers possible. Looking ahead, an active pattern settles in. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday through Friday. Northwest Arkansas could see heavy rainfall by week's end.     Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Arkansas Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th. Step outside right now and you're at 52 degrees under gray skies. But those clouds are about to crack open.. And when they do, temperatures are going to soar. Central Arkansas starts with a slight chance of showers before 7 A.M. Then the sun breaks through. You'll hit 71 degrees this afternoon. That's a 39 degrees-degree jump in just a few hours. Tonight you'll settle at 43 under mostly clear skies. Northwest Arkansas is already seeing breaks in the clouds. Highs top out near 70 with a gentle north breeze at 5 to 10 miles an hour. Lows tonight fall to 42. Northeast Arkansas stays a touch cooler today. That stationary front draped across the region keeps highs around 64 degrees. Tonight you'll drop to 42. Quick note for Jackson and Woodruff Counties. The Flood Warning for the Cache River near Patterson continues until early this afternoon. Minor flooding is occurring. Stay off flooded roads. Now here's where it gets interesting. Friday and Saturday bring even warmer air. Highs climb into the mid 70s statewide. Saturday could approach record territory near 77 degrees. That's the kind of warmth that makes you forget winter ever happened. But don't get too comfortable. Sunday brings a pattern shift. A front stalls over the region and rain chances increase. Showers and thunderstorms become likely Sunday night into Monday across northern Arkansas. The first half of next week looks unsettled. Temperatures cool back to the 50s and 60s. And now we're about to run with it. Central Arkansas pushes to 67 degrees by 2 P.M. South winds gust to 20 miles an hour under mostly cloudy skies. Northwest Arkansas steals the show — you're hitting 70 degrees around 3 P.M. with partly sunny breaks. That's flip-flop weather in late February. Northeast Arkansas runs a bit cooler, topping out at 62 degrees by 1 P.M. Tonight the pattern shifts. Central Arkansas drops to 52 degrees with a slight chance of showers between 7 P.M. and 3 A.M. Nothing heavy, just a sprinkle or two. Northwest Arkansas cools to 46 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Northeast Arkansas dips to 48 degrees with a brief rain chance around 3 A.M. Step outside at 5 A.M. and it'll feel like 42. Thursday splits the state. Central and Northwest Arkansas stay mild — 67 and 68 degrees with scattered showers possible. Northeast Arkansas hits 60 degrees, but rain chances climb to 30 percent through the day. Here's what's lining up. Friday brings sunshine statewide — 70 degrees in Central Arkansas, 73 in the northwest, 66 in the northeast. Saturday cranks the heat even higher. We're talking 77 degrees across the board under sunny skies. Sunday keeps the warmth rolling with highs in the low to mid-70s, though a slight chance of showers returns.
