    So we've looked at the rise of the scene and the decline afterwards, so where is our scene now. There's so many local events going on for artists now and we're starting to see artists break through again with Sam Fender and L Devine leading the charge. We speak to owner of Sunderland venue Independent Ben Richardson, label boss Nicola Coaker and Young Musicians Project leader Laura Brewis to find out where things are at in the local music scene and ask if the scene is truly in a good place.

  • Episode 2: The Fall?

    After the success we had in the 60s and 70s, the North East music scene started to see a decline in the number of artists we'd see make it big and while there were still a few every 5 to 10 years or so and we still had artists from around the world coming to say hi, things weren't the same after the 70s. We hear from label boss Nicola Coaker, BBC Newcastle's Lee Hawthorn and Frankie Francis as we look at why this decline happened and if it was as bad as it looked.
