  • Of The Light - Standing Firm - 1 Thessalonians 5
    Jul 18 2025
Paul implores the Thessalonians (and us!) to stay near to God, "We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." We don't belong to darkness, but to the light. We belong to the day. We don't live however we want, unprepared and hopeless. We prepare by putting on faith, love and hope, which, as armor, protect us. Faith and love, the breastplate, guard our hearts, while hope keeps our minds fixed on what's above.

  • Holy Life - Standing Firm - 1 Thessalonians 4
    Jul 17 2025
How do you live in the middle of persecution and oppressive systems? Paul gives the Thessalonians practical application of God's Word in their lives, and the same applies to us today.

  • Strengthened - Standing Firm - 1 Thessalonians 3
    Jul 16 2025
Standing firm in the faith builds, expands, and spreads. It inspired Paul and prompted him to want to give back more to Thessalonica. It kept him going. Paul's encouragement to the Thessalonians strengthened their faith all the more. The hardships we go through build stronger faith.

  • Integrity - Standing Firm - 1 Thessalonians 2
    Jul 15 2025
Who's the most "what you see is what you get" person you know? This is the kind of person who doesn't tell little white lies, doesn't say one thing and mean another, shows up when they say they will. That kind of person we would say has integrity. Today's scripture talks a lot about integrity. Let's dig into it.

  • Testimony - Standing Firm - 1 Thessalonians 1
    Jul 14 2025
When was the last time you wrote or read a letter? It feels like an old-fashioned ritual now, but in an age of hot takes and short posts, I love the idea of going back to telling stories and sharing our hearts in the written word. This week we're going to read one of the earliest texts in the New Testament, a letter from Paul.

  • Forgiving - Hello My Name Is - Exodus 34
    Jul 11 2025
There is so much depth to the word "forgive" in Hebrew. It means accept, advance, arise, able to, armor, and even more significantly, "to lift, carry, or take". It has to do with physical lifting, bearing burdens, worship, oath-taking, pastoral care, and of course, forgiveness and atonement. This puts a whole new light around Matthew 11:28-30 - “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest..."

When have you found yourself having more than enough? The word "abounding" in Hebrew is rab (rahv), meaning abundant, enough, exceedingly, full, great, multitude, populous, often, plenteous... God is abundant in love, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, and truth. God is worthy of honor and praise. God's love for us is safe. Soak in these truths today.

  • Slow to Anger - Hello My Name Is - Exodus 34
    Jul 9 2025
Something motherhood has changed in me is my reaction time - Like when my kid who has food allergies and is about to try something new. I'm quick to stop the eating and check the package. Or when my toddler is nearing something unsafe. And also, I can be quick to get upset too. Thankfully, our Heavenly Father is NOT quick to get angry - That's one of the first things He says when identifying himself to Moses in Exodus 34:5-7.
