    WELCOME TO THE HORROR LAB!

Join Will and Chris as they explore an absolute horror classic--Ridley Scott's, Alien!

Before the franchise became primarily science fiction, the original was a bona fide horror movie. With claustrophobic setting and atmosphere, the film ratchets up the tension until it (literally) bursts.

Join them in The Horror Lab as they consider themes, screenwriter's intent, feminism, and more. You wont want to miss this discussion!

    May 22 2024

    WE'RE BACK IN THE LAB!

Join Will and Chris as they turn on the lights, dust off The Horror Lab, and jump into a wild and strange and crazy horror movie--Onibaba.

This one is considered a classic, and in lots of ways, it absolutely is. But, it's also a strange and wild ride for the duration. Less a horror movie built on jump scares or overt horror, this one uses lighting, shadow, and score to create an anxious and unnerving film.

You won't want to miss this discussion!

  • HLP E40: Dissecting Atmospheric Horror
    Mar 25 2024

    WE'RE BACK IN THE LAB!

Join Will and Chris as they turn on the lights, dust off The Horror Lab, and jump into an interesting discussion about atmospheric horror.

Some of the best horror movies do a terrific job of setting up the viewer, not with explicit jump scares, but through sound editing, score, lighting, and more. And sometimes the best horror movies are those where you don't quite see monster, villain, or creature!

Join Will and Chris--you won't want to miss it!
