  • 3/1 Kentucky Weather: Special Weather Statement
    Mar 1 2026
Good morning. Kentucky. I'm Aaron Jolly. If you stepped outside this morning and thought, "Wait, didn't it just get colder?" — you're right. A weak cold front snuck through overnight, dropping us to 41 degrees under clear skies. That front is now stalled just south of us. and here's why that matters: it's splitting the state in two. In the next 24 hours. Down in South Central Kentucky, you're on the warm side of that boundary. You'll hit 59 degrees today under partly sunny skies. Eastern Kentucky climbs to 55 degrees, though clouds stick around. Head north and you're in cooler air — Central Kentucky tops out at 49 degrees, while North Central Kentucky reaches 51 degrees with mostly sunny skies. Now here's where tonight gets interesting. A disturbance rides in over that shallow cold air. After 4 A.M., a wintry mix develops north of I-64. If you're in North Central or Central Kentucky, you could wake up Monday to snow and sleet before 9 A.M. — maybe a slushy coating on the grass. South Central and Eastern Kentucky stay all rain. Monday morning's commute could be slick if you're north of the Parkways. By afternoon, everything flips to plain rain as temperatures climb into the upper 40s and low 50s. The big story this week? A major warm-up. Tuesday jumps into the mid 60s to low 70s. Wednesday through Saturday, highs soar into the mid 70s — some spots near 80 degrees by Friday. The trade-off? Daily rain chances and possible thunderstorms Wednesday night through the weekend. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Spring equinox is 19 days away. and next week's temperatures will make it feel like spring arrived early. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.

  • 2/28 Kentucky Weather: 29° Above Normal
    Feb 28 2026
Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Step outside right now and tell me it's still February. I dare you. We're sitting at 47 degrees under clear skies. and honestly, this is just the warmup act. In the next 24 hours. Here's what's happening. High pressure is sliding east while a moisture-starved cold front sags south from the Great Lakes. That southwest flow ahead of the front? It's pumping in air that belongs in April, not late February. Eastern Kentucky and South Central Kentucky hit 70 degrees today. Seventy. That's 29 degrees above normal. Central and North Central Kentucky reach the mid-60s. All under wall-to-wall sunshine. If you've been putting off yard work or a long walk, today's your day. Tonight, that front slips through. A slight chance of rain showers after midnight up north. Lows drop to around 40 degrees in the northern counties, mid-40s south. Sunday flips the script. Cooler air funnels in behind the front. Partly sunny skies with highs only in the upper 40s to mid-50s. Dig that jacket back out. Here's where it gets interesting. Sunday night into Monday morning, moisture rides up and over that cooler air. Northern Kentucky could see a wintry mix. Light snow, maybe some sleet. Mainly along and north of I-64. Accumulations look minimal, but Monday morning's commute could be slick. The week ahead turns wet. Rain chances return Tuesday and persist through Friday. Temperatures rebound into the 60s and 70s by midweek. We could even see thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday. Today's the pick of the week. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.

  • Special Weather Statement | Kentucky Weather
    Feb 26 2026
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Kentucky Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th. That rain tapping your window? It's wrapping up soon. Right now we're sitting at 43 degrees under gray skies, but sunshine and 60s are waiting just around the corner. Eastern Kentucky is taking the biggest soaking this morning. Rain and patchy fog hang around through midday with temperatures near 47 degrees. A Flood Advisory stays in effect until 7:30 A.M. For Bell, Harlan, Knox, McCreary. And Whitley counties. Over an inch has already fallen there. South Central Kentucky sees the rain taper off by 9 A.M. Highs reach 54 degrees with gusts up to 24 miles an hour. North Central Kentucky gets a quick rain and snow mix between 8 and 10 A.M. Nothing sticks on roads, but bridges could be slick during the morning commute. Highs top out at 51 degrees. Central Kentucky wraps up the rain by late morning. Partly sunny skies this afternoon with a high near 48 degrees. Tonight brings clearing skies and temperatures dropping into the low 30s statewide. Patchy fog develops in the valleys. Friday and Saturday deliver the payoff. Sunny skies, highs in the 60s both days. South Central Kentucky could touch 69 degrees Saturday. That's about 30 degrees above normal for late February. Here's your week ahead. Sunday night into Monday brings our next system. A cold front stalls over the region, setting up a potential wintry mix. Freezing rain becomes likely Sunday night. Rain and snow continue Monday. Keep that on your radar if you've got Monday morning plans. Tuesday through Wednesday, temperatures rebound back into the 50s with scattered rain showers. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise at 7:20 A.M., sunset at 6:34 P.M. Spring equinox is just three weeks away. Enjoy the calm before Sunday's arrival. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
