  • 3/1 Michigan Weather 6 AM: Snow
    Mar 1 2026
Good morning. Michigan. I'm Aaron Jolly. That Canadian air snuck in overnight like a houseguest who doesn't knock. A low pressure system pulled south, dragging Arctic cold behind it. That's why your thermometer looks angry this morning. but here's the twist. This is the last truly bitter day for a while. In the next 24 hours. Yesterday's snow left about seven tenths of an inch on the ground. Nothing dramatic, but enough to make the world look fresh. Now high pressure is muscling in, clearing our skies and locking in the chill. Up in Northern Michigan, you're waking up to 9 degrees. Brutal. Highs only reach 22 today under partly sunny skies. A stray snow shower could sneak through this afternoon. Tonight drops back to 11 degrees as skies clear. Slide down to West Michigan and it's a touch more forgiving. Seventeen degrees right now, sunny skies pushing you to 32 by this afternoon. Tonight settles back to 17. Over in Southeast Michigan, you're at 22 degrees but that north wind makes it feel like 12. Any leftover snow showers wrap up by 7 A.M. Then sunshine takes over with a high near 30. Tonight dips to 19. Now the good stuff. Monday starts the turnaround. Sunshine everywhere, highs climbing into the mid 30s to near 40. Tuesday might open with a wintry mix before flipping to rain. Then. The pattern completely shifts. Fifties by Wednesday. Potentially 60 degrees by Friday. Several rounds of rain roll through late week. Folks, that warmth plus rain means rapid snowmelt. If you live near a river, keep your eyes open. In One more reason to smile. Sunrise hits at 7, 15 this morning. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every day now. Spring equinox is just 19 days out. Charge up, grab that extra layer. and enjoy the sunshine. Last cold one for a while. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.

  • 2/28 Michigan Weather 6 PM: Snow Starting 5 PM
    Feb 28 2026
Good evening. Michigan. I'm Aaron Jolly. A clipper system is racing across the Great Lakes right now, dragging a band of snow behind it like a curtain closing on February. and folks. It's got some teeth. In the next 24 hours. Snow moves in between 5 P.M. and 8 P.M. The heaviest band locks onto the I-96 corridor from Muskegon through Grand Rapids to Lansing. That stretch could pick up 1 to 3 inches by morning. Some spots might push 4 if the band decides to stall. That's enough to make your evening drive feel like a suggestion rather than a plan. Slide southeast toward Detroit and the Thumb. You're looking at a half inch to 2 inches, with the juicier totals between I-69 and I-94. Snow tapers after midnight as the whole system scoots east. Now the real story. Once that clipper clears out. Arctic high pressure drops in from Canada like an uninvited guest. Sunday looks partly sunny but deceiving. Highs only crack the low 30s around Detroit. West Michigan struggles into the upper 20s. Northern Michigan? Low 20s. Sunday night is where it bites. Lows plunge to the upper teens downstate, mid teens in the west. and single digits up north. Wind chills approach minus 10 in Northern Michigan. That's frostbite territory on exposed skin. The week ahead tells a wild story. Monday stays cold and dry, low to mid 30s. Tuesday brings a wintry mix possibility as a system lifts from the Ohio Valley. Watch for freezing rain, especially in the morning. Then everything flips. Highs surge into the upper 40s Wednesday, low 50s Thursday. and possibly low 60s by next weekend. Rain rides in with that warmth. Scattered showers midweek, heavier stuff next weekend as Gulf moisture streams north. February goes out cold. March comes in feeling like April. Charge your phone, scrape your windshield tonight. and let the clipper do its thing. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
