  • Derry victory, Shelbourne draw and two tough away trips ahead
    Mar 10 2026

In Episode 19 of The Milltown Way, we reflect on a busy few days for Shamrock Rovers as the Hoops followed Friday night’s win over Derry City with a 2-2 draw away to Shelbourne at Tolka Park.

We start with a look back at Rovers’ narrow 1-0 victory over Derry City at Tallaght Stadium, where a late penalty from Dylan Watts proved the difference. The result also marked a historic night for manager Stephen Bradley, who took charge of his 445th game at the club to surpass the long-standing record previously held by Paddy Coad.

Attention then turns to Monday night’s trip to Tolka Park, where Rovers shared the points with Shelbourne in a dramatic 2-2 draw. We discuss the key moments from the game, the overall performance, and what the result means for Rovers in the early stages of the season.

Looking ahead, we preview two challenging away fixtures coming up for Rovers as they travel to face Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds this Friday before another away trip the following Monday against Drogheda United at Sullivan and Lambe Park.

With a busy schedule continuing, we discuss what Rovers will need to improve and whether they can build momentum in the coming weeks.

The Milltown Way is an independent Shamrock Rovers podcast covering the latest matches, talking points and discussion around the Hoops.

Hosted by Ryan Brennan and Adam Casey.

  • Shamrock Rovers look to bounce back after Bohs defeat
    Mar 2 2026

Episode 18 - 3–2 defeat at Dalymount Park, where a late Shamrock Rovers rally shifted the mood — but not the result.

We examine how the game slipped away, the defensive vulnerabilities exposed over the course of the night, and whether the late surge offers encouragement or simply masks deeper concerns. Was this a case of small margins in a derby, or are there structural issues that need addressing?

Off the pitch, we also discuss the developing situation involving Michael Noonan and his agent, separating confirmed information from speculation and assessing whether external noise can impact focus at this stage of the season.

We then turn to the League of Ireland’s review of the complaint made regarding the postponement of Rovers’ opening fixture against Dundalk. What does this mean for league governance, competitive integrity, and the wider optics of decision-making early in the campaign?

Looking ahead, we preview a crucial home fixture against Derry City. Is this already a tone-setting game? We analyse the tactical matchup, potential selection calls, and what kind of response is required.

Finally, with Shelbourne away on Monday and no episode scheduled in between, we briefly look ahead to Tolka Park and how the next 180 minutes could shape the early-season narrative.

We also finish with a reminder about the club lotto and the upcoming D22 Supporters Club run.

All that and more on Episode 18.

  • Two down, Bohs on the horizon
    Feb 24 2026

Episode 17 - Pats beaten, Dundalk reaction, NetBet questions & the Michael Noonan situationIt's Episode 17 and there’s plenty to get through.

We start with Friday night’s 2–0 win over St Patrick’s Athletic at Tallaght Stadium. A controlled, mature performance. Clean sheet. Big moments taken. We break down what worked, who impressed, and why this felt like a statement result early in the season.

From there, we react to Monday nights game against Dundalk. A 1-1 draw, a heavily rotated squad, the tactical decisions, and what it tells us about where Rovers are right now.

Off the pitch, we discuss the appearance of NetBet advertising at Tallaght Stadium and what it says about betting sponsorship in Irish football. It’s a wider conversation — commercial realities versus supporter sentiment — and we give our honest take.

We also unpack the developing situation surrounding teenage striker Michael Noonan. Shamrock Rovers have confirmed an ongoing process with FIFA relating to agreements connected to his proposed move to Hoffenheim. We outline what’s been reported, what the club have said publicly, and why this story could have broader implications for youth transfers and representation in the League of Ireland.

Looking ahead, attention quickly turns to Bohemians away on Friday — always one of the biggest fixtures of the domestic calendar. We discuss potential team selection, form, and what kind of performance will be needed in Dalymount.

We also mention a couple of important supporter updates:

    • There was no winner of the club lotto this week — the jackpot now rises to €3,200.

    • The D22 Supporters Club are organising a 5K Fun Run in aid of Oscar’s Kids Ireland on Sunday, 29 March — a brilliant cause and a great initiative from supporters.

As always, we’re talking football from a Shamrock Rovers perspective — honest opinions, tactical chat, and the issues that matter on and off the pitch.

  • Will Shamrock Rovers ever play again?
    Feb 16 2026

    Episode 16 – Waiting for kick-off, NetBet debate & St Pat’s preview

    Shamrock Rovers are still waiting.

For the second week in a row, a league fixture has been postponed, this time the scheduled away trip to Shelbourne, meaning the Hoops’ 2026 Premier Division campaign has yet to get underway.

In Episode 16 of The Milltown Way podcast, we discuss what two postponements in a row mean for preparation, rhythm and momentum. Does a delayed start disrupt sharpness? Or could it offer Stephen Bradley’s side an early-season advantage once the fixtures begin to stack up?

We also examine the reaction to the club’s recently announced partnership with NetBet as its Responsible Gambling Partner. The decision has prompted strong debate among supporters. In this episode, we break down the context, from the FAI’s 2021 decision not to extend a betting sponsorship ban to the wider financial realities facing League of Ireland clubs, and discuss the balance between commercial necessity and supporter sentiment.

Beyond the controversy, we take a few minutes to look at the Rovers club lotto and what it represents in terms of supporter engagement and grassroots backing.

Finally, attention turns to next Friday’s home clash with St Patrick’s Athletic. We preview the tactical battle, key players, likely approaches and what Rovers will need to get right if they are to start their campaign with authority at Tallaght Stadium.

Structured analysis. Measured opinion. Supporter perspective.

  • Waiting for kick-off, Shelbourne away now the opener
    Feb 9 2026

Episode 15 – Waiting for kick-off | Shelbourne away now the opener
The 2026 League of Ireland season still hasn’t started for Shamrock Rovers. With the scheduled opening night clash against Dundalk postponed due to adverse weather, the Hoops’ league campaign remains on hold, but not for much longer. All roads now lead to Tolka Park next Friday as Shelbourne away becomes the new curtain-raiser .In Episode 15 of The Milltown Way, we react to the postponement and ask whether this unexpected delay changes anything for Stephen Bradley and his squad. Does an extra week help sharpen fitness and integrate new signings like Adam Brennan? Or does it simply extend the frustration after the narrow President’s Cup defeat to Derry City? We look ahead in depth to Shelbourne away, the atmosphere, the edge, and the narrative stakes. Starting a season at home is one thing. Starting it in Tolka Park, under the lights, against a rival who will treat it as a statement night, is something else entirely. This is a shorter episode than usual, but it’s one built around anticipation. The season feels like it’s paused before it has even begun, and that only increases the significance of what now becomes a high-profile opening night in Drumcondra. Will Rovers lay down an early marker? Or will Shelbourne attempt to disrupt the rhythm of another title defence before it gathers pace? The wait continues, but not for long. • President's Cup defeat and the return of the league
    Feb 2 2026

Episode 14 - We react to Friday night’s President’s Cup defeat to Derry City at Tallaght Stadium, where fine margins once again separated the sides.

We look at what went right, what didn’t, and whether the performance offers encouragement heading into the league campaign. With the League of Ireland Premier Division kicking off this Friday with a home game against Dundalk, we turn our attention to the opening league fixture.

What can Rovers take from pre-season? What should expectations be for matchday one? And how important is a fast start in 2026?

There’s also plenty of transfer chat:

    • Michael Noonan looks set to stay put despite strong interest from abroad
    • Adam Brennan’s arrival from UCD and what he adds to the squad
    • Stephen Bradley’s comments suggesting one or two more signings could still arrive before the window closes

We also take a few minutes to highlight the Shamrock Rovers club lotto, why it matters, and how supporters can get involved in backing the club off the pitch.

To wrap up, we give a shout-out to Leanaimid, the As Gaeilge Shamrock Rovers podcast hosted by 13-year-old Rovers fan Daniel. With eight episodes already recorded and a new season launching on 5 February, it’s another great example of the growing fan media scene around the club.
