    Filmmaker Amal Al-Agroobi is half Emirati (from the UAE) and half Syrian, with a passion for social-based and human-interest stories. She started her career in 2012 in documentaries, winning multiple competitions worldwide before transitioning into genre cinema. She now writes and direct sci-fi, horror and fantasy for film and television. Her most notable film was “Half Emirati (2012),” a documentary about mixed-parentage individuals in the UAE; her latest is a Lovecraftian horror, “Ladies Coffee (2024)” about fortune-telling through coffee cup reading in Syrian culture. She has also just completed a documentary about university students living with disabilities in Gaza, entitled “Voice notes from Palestine.”

    Ayoola Smart is an Irish, Nigerian and English actor from West Cork.

    A graduate of East 15 Acting School, Ayoola has since worked extensively across multiple media platforms. Credits include: The Olivier Award nominated play Paradise Now! at the Bush, Taming of the Shrew and Romeo & Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe. Films: Juliet, Naked and Cocaine Bear & TV including BBC's Killing Eve, Les Misérables, Smother & since 2021 the series regular role of Aviendha in Amazon’s ‘The Wheel of Time’. Ayoola also works as a voice over artist through ‘Loud & Clear Voices’.

    Today's guest is Moroccan-British actor Youssef Kerkour.

    BAFTA nominated actor and veteran stage performer, Youssef was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company for 5 years and has worked prolifically on both sides of the Atlantic and across three continents. Named a BAFTA BREAKTHROUGH honoree for 2020, he is most well known for portraying Sami in the Channel 4 series ‘HOME’ for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy, winning a Royal Television Society award for Best Actor in a Comedy 2021 as well as numerous nominations for the role over a two year period. Various on screen credits include the leading role of Sam in “Significant Other” for ITV and Quay Street. Alfonso Cuaron’s “Disclamer” for Apple TV, Megalodon in “Man Like Mobeen 4” BBC3, Karl in Channel 4’s ‘Baghdad Central.’ ‘Gavin and Stacey: Xmas Special’, ‘Criminal UK’, ‘Cursed’, ‘Dracula’ and ‘Stay Close’, all for Netflix.

    Film credits include Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” and ‘House of Gucci.’ Reggie Yates’ “Pirates”. “A Bit of Light” for Stephen Moyer and “The Actor” for Ryan Gosling, Andy Kaufmann and Duke Johnson. He has recently finished filming on Cillian Murphy’s new film ‘Steve,’ and is set to appear as series regular Steely Pate in new Game of Thrones franchise ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.’

    Originally from Morocco he is a graduate of Bard College in upstate New York and a LAMDA graduate with honors in London.
