    Sherrie is Back

Sherrie Allsup is an international speaker, educator, and subject matter expert with lived experience. She speaks on topics such as sexual assault, sexual abuse, trauma, and suicide. Sherrie is a survivor of long-term sexual abuse, trauma, and suicide attempts. After much hard work and healing she became the founder and CEO of Courage Starts With You. For victims, Courage means telling someone and reaching out for help. For law enforcement, Courage means looking beyond the traditional victim interview technique to recognize how and why victims of assault may act differently than victims of crimes.

She purchased a cemetery plot, purchased the outfit she wanted to be buried in, and made the decision that morning was going to be the day Sherrie Allsup no longer lived to endure the pain she lived daily throughout her life. Yet, those were not the cards that she was dealt. That was the moment that she began to take her power back. Sherrie Allsup’s journey took a profound turn when faced with the contemplation of ending her life, she instead chose to reclaim her power. She now travels and shares her story to shine a light on the lifelong challenges that sexual abuse and trauma leave behind.

Her pieces of training are centered around shining a light on the dark epidemic of sexual abuse and assault. She is also a member of RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest, and Neglect Network). She says, “Trauma victims almost live plan to plan or we wouldn’t survive.” Embracing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapy, Sherrie embarked on a new chapter. In her own words, “This sentiment encapsulates her life, where she navigated each moment with a flickering flashlight, battling the pain that haunted her daily. Determined to break free from the past, she decided that the grip of her father’s years of abuse is not going to define her”.

  • Episode 228: The Suffering of a Musician with Kenny Dubman
    Apr 27 2025

Kenny Dubman is a battle-tested rock and roll veteran, coming up through the club circuit right out of high school, and forging through 3 major label releases with New Jersey melodic rock faves Prophet. After walking away from writing and recording for over 20 years, he's back with a vengeance, writing guitar-driven American rock music with deep reaching, thought provoking lyrics that cut straight to the heart and mind. While top notch guitar playing is still very much his M.O., writing and singing songs that make the listener want to hear them again...and again...is now Kenny's primary objective. Combining elements of 70's hard rock, southern rock and Americana, his music is truly real, raw, American rock and roll that packs a punch. All you need to do is listen.

    Apr 6 2025

Our scheduled guest tonight canceled, this episode would have been the most difficult discussion to have and record. With the level of importance on the topic, and the push-back we could potentially receive, we were well aware of the potential downsides of doing such a show. It did not work out the way we anticipated but Tom and Kevin sit down to discuss the ins and out of why this episode was so important. The potential guest had an offense so egregious that we dare not say what it is, you’ll just have to watch.

  • Episode 224: The Suffering of The Dallas 5 with Chad Burpee
    Mar 30 2025

    Send us a text

Chad Burpee is a proud father, brother, and a son. Though he grew up in Maine, life’s journey eventually led him to Texas. With a deep sense of duty and service, he dedicated 20 years of his life to law enforcement, serving in Lancaster County, Nebraska, and later in Dallas, Texas. Before that, he honorably served his country as a United States Air Force veteran from 1995 to 1999 with the 314th Security Forces Squadron. His service took him on two tours in the Middle East, and he had the distinct privilege of working with the Presidential Detail for President William Clinton and Air Force One.

On July 7, 2016, Chad’s life was forever changed. That night, in the heart of Dallas, he found himself in the midst of one of the deadliest attacks on law enforcement in U.S. history—the Dallas 5 ambush. As chaos unfolded, 11 officers were shot, and tragically, 5 of his brothers in blue lost their lives. The weight of that night and the years of service before it left lasting scars, both seen and unseen.

Now medically retired, Chad has turned his pain into purpose. He openly shares his journey of battling anxiety, depression, and PTSD, hoping to be a light for others who are struggling. Through his words and experiences, he reminds others that even in the darkest moments, there is hope, there is healing, and there is peace to be found again.

  • Episode 222: The Suffering of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Kate Califano and Eric Smith
    Mar 16 2025

    Send us a text

Kate Califano, an entrepreneur, founded Seminar Stack with the support of her husband, Pennsylvania State Trooper Eric Smith, to equip first responders and civilians with essential safety and resilience skills. Eric’s dedication stems from his recovery after a near-fatal on-duty crash in 2020, during which he discovered the Adopt A Cop BJJ program. Training together, Kate and Eric saw the immense benefits of BJJ for fitness, mental resilience, and law enforcement.

Motivated by BJJ’s transformative power, they launched Seminar Stack to provide real-world training in gun retention, use of force, trauma response, and de-escalation, alongside practical BJJ instruction. The event goes beyond workshops, featuring keynote speakers, expert-led seminars, and hands-on demonstrations that equip attendees with actionable skills. It also fosters community connections through networking, vendor spaces, and fundraising. Their mission is to enhance officer safety, build trust between first responders and the public, and create a safer, more prepared society.
