Campfire Stories - The Good Samaritan

    Chris Honess, Lead Pastor

    March 8, 2026

“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

    Luke 10:28

    1.) Ours is distant.

A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.

    Luke 10:31

    2.) Ours is busy.

So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

    Luke 10:32

1.) Slow down and get close.

But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.

    Luke 10:33

    2.) Get practical.

He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.

    Luke 10:34

    3.) Get generous.

The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper …

    The Sower - Campfire Stories

    Chris Honess, Lead Pastor

    March 1, 2026

The Kingdom of God is a mystery.
He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.

    Matthew 13:11

The story of the Kingdom is really good news.

But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

    Matthew 13:16-17

Our response to the story matters:

    A. Hard hearts.

When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatched away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

    Matthew 13:19

    B. Shallow hearts.

The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

    Matthew 13:20-21

    C. Crowded hearts.

The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.

    Matthew 13:22

    D. Open hearts.

But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

    Matthew 13:23

  • Practices of a Healthy Marriage - John & Gwen Elmer

    Practices of a Healthy Marriage

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

    Genesis 2:24

Q 1 What is the most important foundation for marriage?

A friend loves at all times …

    Proverbs 17:17

… This is my beloved, this is my friend, …

    Song of Songs 5:16b

Q 2 How do you keep your marriage fresh?

Q 3 Why didn’t you quit when things got hard?

“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

    Matthew 19:4-6

Q 4 How do you resolve conflict?

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

    James 1:19

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

    James 5:16

Q 5 What spiritual practices support your marriage?

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

    John 15:5
