À propos de cet audio

James Johnson and Phil Smith from The Jaguars Wire (USA Today) bring you the best and most up to date Jacksonville Jaguars news. "Touchdown Jaguars!" is a tribute to the prospective ownership group "Touchdown Jacksonville!" In 1991, the NFL announced plans to add two expansion teams and "Touchdown Jacksonville!" announced its bid for a team, and Jacksonville was ultimately chosen as one of five finalists. In November 1993, the NFL owners voted 26–2 in favor of awarding the 30th franchise to Jacksonville. James and Phil have been fans of the franchise ever since and have had the honor (and sometimes dishonor) of covering the team professionally since 2017. The rest as they say, is history.© 2025 Touchdown Jaguars! Football (américain) Politique

A seismic shift hit Duval County moments before our recording when news broke that the Jaguars traded Tank Bigsby to Philadelphia for future draft picks. This unexpected development punctuated what was already a celebratory Victory Monday following Jacksonville's convincing 26-10 win over Carolina.

The trade makes perfect sense when you look at Sunday's game film. Travis Etienne exploded for 143 yards on just 16 carries, including a 71-yard burst that stands as the Jaguars' longest run since 2019. Meanwhile, Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen showed explosive potential in limited touches. With such depth at running back, General Manager James Gladstone continues his methodical approach of accumulating draft capital while maintaining roster strength.

What truly stands out from Sunday's victory is the physicality this team now possesses. Robert Hainsey, Ezra Cleveland, and Walker Little all continued to pave lanes as they did in the preseason. This isn't just about scheme – it's about a mindset shift. Players are finishing blocks, backs are keeping their legs churning through contact, and there's a toughness that was sorely missing last season.

Defensively, budget free agent signings made immediate impact. Eric Murray showed playmaking ability at safety, Jourdan Lewis provided solid coverage, and Dennis Gardeck was all over the field. Josh Hines-Allen generated consistent pressure even without recording a sack. After some early struggles against the run, Anthony Campanile's defense adjusted beautifully.

Trevor Lawrence showed both promise and growing pains as he adapts to Liam Coen's system. Despite some inconsistent moments following the weather delay, he displayed remarkable resilience, leading scoring drives after facing adverse situations. This ability to overcome mistakes represents significant growth.

Looking ahead, the upcoming schedule appears more manageable than initially feared based on Week 1 performances around the league. Cincinnati struggled offensively despite their win, while Houston and even Kansas City showed vulnerabilities. Could the Jaguars build momentum in the coming weeks? The pieces certainly appear to be falling into place.
