  • Faith and the story of Noah
    Dec 4 2025

  • Episode 4: It happened there, it happened here and it will happen again.
    Dec 2 2025
Matt and Ron Davis from The Jewish Road Ministries discussing the historical and spiritual significance of Hanukkah and the dreidel (1:53). They aim to provide context for the Jewish roots of faith for Christians and to help Jewish people understand their Messiah (1:12).Here are the key points covered:The Dreidel's Story The dreidel is not just a game but a storytelling tool that narrates the history of Hanukkah (3:55). The letters on the dreidel (nun, gimmel, hey, shin) symbolize phrases related to the Hanukkah miracle (2:55).The Prophecy of Daniel and Antiochus Epiphanes The speakers connect the Hanukkah story to the prophecies in the Book of Daniel, particularly Daniel 8, which foretells the rise of Greece (represented by a goat and Alexander the Great) and the subsequent division of his empire (4:25). They highlight the "little horn" prophecy (6:22), which refers to Antiochus Epiphanes, a Seleucid ruler who desecrated the Jewish Temple and persecuted the Jewish people (7:41).The Maccabean Revolt and Rededication of the Temple The video explains how Antiochus Epiphanes outlawed Jewish practices like Torah study, Sabbath observance, and circumcision, and forced sacrifices to Zeus (10:21). The Maccabees, a small but convicted group, rose up against Antiochus, reclaimed Jerusalem, and cleansed the Temple (11:00, 18:58). This act of rededication is what Hanukkah (meaning "dedication") commemorates (20:16).The Eternal Light and the Coming of Messiah The speakers emphasize the significance of the "ner tamid" (eternal light) in the Temple, symbolizing God's perpetual presence (21:29). They connect the relighting of this flame during Hanukkah to the coming of Yeshua (Jesus), whom they identify as the ultimate light and fulfillment of Hanukkah (23:16, 25:02).The "Dotted Line" of God's Story The video discusses how the clear "storyline" of God's covenant with Israel has become "dotted" over 2,000 years due to historical events like the destruction of the Temple, the scattering of the Jewish people, and theological misunderstandings such as replacement theology (26:41).The Enduring Promise to Israel Despite the challenges and historical attempts to erase the Jewish connection to God, their word, and their land, the speakers assert that God's promises to Israel are irrevocable and still stand (29:13). They view the modern existence of Israel as a "super sign" of God fulfilling his promises in the "last days" (30:45).The Dreidel Today: Past, Present, and Future Miracles They differentiate between the dreidel used outside of Israel, which signifies "a great miracle happened there" (34:44), and the Israeli dreidel, which says "a great miracle happened here" (34:27). They then introduce a third, symbolic dreidel representing "a great miracle will happen again," pointing to future divine intervention and the ultimate return of the Messiah (36:04).Call to Rededication The video concludes with a call for personal rededication, asking what needs to be cleansed, rebuilt, and surrendered in one's life, echoing the theme of the Temple's rededication (40:25). They also highlight the ministry's role in helping the church reconnect with the Jewish roots of their faith and support Israel (32:46:27:00, 32:46:32:46).You can visit and donate to the Jewish Road at https://thejewishroad.com/
