    Attorney Sheley Secrest, NAACP Area Conference(ALASKA,Oregon,Washington) President comments on the regional meeting being held in Tacoma, WA this weekend. The speaker for Saturday’s event is Dr. John Carlos (remember the 1968 Olympics).


    Loria Yeadon, CEO, YMCA of Greater Seattle invites you to the organization’s event on Wednesday, September, 24 where some deserving community members will be honored.


    Dr. Lora-Ellen McKinney is a new member of the Central District Community Preservation & Development Authority (CDCPDA) Board of Directors. The building is named for her father, the late Revered Dr. Samuel B. McKinney. She speaks on the history of the building.


    Hayward Evans is new member of the Central District Community Preservation & Development & Development Authority (CDCPDA) Board of Directors. He invites interested community members to the Saturday, September 20 11:00 am Town Hall.


    Robert Gant is a candidate for a seat on the Central District Community Preservation & Development Authority (CDCPDA) Board of Directors aka the McKinney Center for Community & Economic Development.


    Seattle Labor Activist Claude Burfect says he didn’t endorse Katie Wilson for Seattle Mayor.

He also talks about his priorities on transportation and how it's key to affordable housing.

    *Ed Prince, Renton City Councilman and Executive Director, Washington State Commission on African American Affairs pays tribute to Commissioner Sheila Stanton of Kirkland WA who was killed Sunday when a driver crashed into a Grocery Outlet store in Kirkland. He explains how the Washington State Department of Commerce will be the lead state agency on the Reparations Study.

    *Juan Peralez, president, UNIDOS of Snohomish County comments on the civil rights work and the efforts his organization is undertaken to get police accountability legislation passed by the state legislature. His organization recently hosted a community meeting that featured a former FBI agent who infiltrated hate groups and shared his experience with a panel that included State Senators John Lovick and Manka Dhingra.

    *Randy Cross, Executive Secretary, Royal Esquire Club provides the details of activities for the month of September. First Friday will kick off the events for the month followed by a Saturday afternoon Birthday Party for Toni Forward Bailey that will be catered by Keith Floyd's SOULFUSION.

    *Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D) New York-8, he was elected unanimously by his colleagues to be Minority Leader of the Democrats in the United States Congress. He comments on the issues facing the country and the approach that the Democrats are taking to mitigate some of the Executive Orders being issued by the President Trump and legislation being passed by the Republican controlled Congress. He talks about the significance of the August 28, 1963 March on Washington DC for Jobs and Freedom.

    *Hayward Evans, Co Convener, Seattle King County Commemoration Committee comments on Show-Up Stand-Up Speak-Up For Your Rights. He outlines the organizations program that will be held this evening to commemorate the 62nd Anniversary of the historic August 28, 1963 March on Washington DC for Jobs and Freedom at Seattle's Holgate Street Church of Christ. Five Community Leaders will be recognized for their contributions during the program.

    *Kendra Liddell, Community Engagement Coordinator, Seattle's Central District Community Preservation & Development Authority (CDCPDA) aka the Reverend Samuel B. McKinney Center for Community & Economic Development. She will be one of the MC's for this evenings event.

    *Shawn Kemp six time NBA All Star for the Seattle SuperSonics has been giving to the youth of Puget Sound for years and he is receiving the Lenny Wilkens Community Service Award. In spite of legal issues facing him, he showed up at Rise Up Academy in Everett Washington three weeks ago and over 2,500 youth attended. Two weeks ago with Gary Payton, Marshawn Lynch, and Richard Sherman they provided school supplies for about 3,000 youth in Kent, WA.

    *Ellen Smith, Tacoma Pierce County Black Collective is assisting the Mahogany Circle in raising funds for the cancer awareness organization. On Sunday, August 31 at 5:00 pm she is co hosting a Fashion Show and the Motown Review at Tacoma's Caballero Club.
