Welcome to Episode 134 of the Warrior Words podcast!

For this week's episode, I had the opportunity to chat with an incredibly creative man, a man who's on a mission to offer hope through LEGO® bricks.

But these are no ordinary bricks. Well, the bricks may be ordinary, but the designs and the builder behind the designs are definitely not.

John was born with a chronic illness, but it wasn't diagnosed until a bit later. He knew he struggled with certain challenges, but instead of allowing them to keep him down, he learned to advocate for himself.

And he found comfort and hope through plastic bricks. With his determination and increasing skill, small buildings grew bigger. Houses became churches.

John found himself developing a stronger prayer life with each brick and with each design.

Last week would have been my 25th wedding anniversary.

Except, my marriage ended due to domestic violence.

In this last week of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I take a look at some of the things that have occurred over the last 25 years.

I talk about the difficulty abused spouses have when they're not allowed to go no contact until their youngest turns 18. But I also talk about healing and forgiveness - the freedom of not allowing your abuser to live rent-free in your head.

Don't allow them to keep you a victim. That keeps the power on their side of the fence. Take your power back and become the victor!

My friend, and all-around amazing human, Lynn Donovan, is on the podcast this week. She shares about her personal struggle with being unequally yoked, or spiritually mismatched.

This is a hope-filled episode! Many people find themselves mismatched in their marriage, and Lynn offers so much hope through her own story, as well as her ministry: Spiritually Unequal Marriage.

This ministry, her books, and her friendship were lifelines to me when I was going through my own marriage.

This week's episode is another one that's a little different.

A while ago, I saved a list from a post made by World Record Holder, Jenn Drummond. This week, I examined her list of tips, if you will, that she applies to herself.

I took that list and interpreted it through my eyes and experiences. I offered some tips of my own based on hers and what I felt from the perspective of a trauma survivor.

It's one of those where you listen to each one and then choose what applies to your life and leave the rest. Leave them completely, or leave them to re-examine at a later date.
