What Would Someone Notice In Us? (Advent 4)

“As for the things that you have learned and received and heard and noticed in me, do them, and the God of peace will be with you.” -Philippians 4:9

If someone were to observe us for an extended period of time, what would they notice about us?

Would they see gentle people, people whose gentleness comes from their confidence in God’s care and protection?

Would they see people who even in life’s most anxious moments practiced gratitude? People who gained clarity and comfort through the practice of prayer and meditation?

Would they see people whose hearts and minds were consistently at peace and free of bitterness and hate, anger and fear?

Would they see people who are relentlessly positive, who both focus on the good and work for the good?

Dear God, let the power of your spirit living within and among us transform us into such people.
