I did all the right things to prevent getting cancer. A certified health coach, nutritionist & wellness speaker, I thought I’d be the last person to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Why did I still get it? Was there something else I could have done to prevent it? A couple years later, I am grateful to be cancer-free and now I’m on a mission to share everything I’ve learned about mitigating risk, managing symptoms, and staying mentally well when bad things happen – even if you “did everything right!” ‘Why Did I Get Cancer‘ features: • Eye-opening information about health/cancer risks that surround us (and solutions to mitigate risks) • Health & lifestyle tips to lower risk (easier and quicker than you’d think!) • Inexpensive solutions for lowering cancer risk DISCLAIMER: The information provided on this podcast pertaining to your health or wellness, or any other aspect of your life is not intended to be a substitute for the professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment provided by your own Medical Provider or Mental Health Provider. • 142. Sleep: Nature's Ultimate Healer
    Dec 4 2025
Sleep makes everything in life easier. Years ago, a doctor told me, "If you're not sleeping well, you can't be well." That's quite a bit of pressure! The last thing I want to think about when I'm in bed is feeling stressed about falling asleep. But guess what? Today's podcast guest, Holistic Sleep Coach Morgan Adams, shared a tip that has helped me fall asleep faster. She explained the research behind creating a list of "concerns and actions" and writing it down about 2 to 3 hours before bedtime. Studies show that this simple act of putting your stress on paper helps lower stress hormones, allowing your body to sleep more soundly. I also appreciate the part of this exercise where I outline my action plan for addressing my stressors. I've listened to this episode three times, and each time I learn something new. My sleep is improving after years of complaining about it! Why am I so excited to make gift guides each year? I know holiday gifting can feel overwhelming, but it’s also a chance to spread joy and make memories that last. • 141. Artificial Turf: Is It Toxic?
    Nov 22 2025
I've never given much thought to artificial turf. That is, until I read a recent article published by today's podcast guest, Abbie. Artificial turf, created initially by Monsanto and called ChemGrass (by this point, you probably have guessed how I feel about this topic), was perhaps made with good intentions. Kids can play sports throughout the winter. It seems to be good for the environment and doesn't need watering or chemical spraying. In today's episode, our guest explained that the artificial turf is made from old car tires, forever chemicals, and plastic. If your kids play soccer on turf, you’ve likely noticed how hot it can be on the field. In fact, turf can be thirty degrees hotter than natural grass. Studies have shown that plastic and chemical vapors are released even more in extreme weather conditions, and these chemicals can come into contact with our kids' skin. This episode is essential for any parent whose child plays on turf. Abbie shares her top four tips for protecting your kids from these harmful chemicals. Please share this episode with all the parents and grandparents in your life. Why am I so excited to make gift guides each year? • 140. Why I Think Breast Cancer Month is a SCAM.
    Nov 6 2025
Have you heard of Pinkwashing? This is what happens when companies promote breast cancer awareness to boost sales while using harmful chemicals in their products. Pinkwashing can also cause what I call the "health halo." You see the pink ribbon, so you think the product is safe. It's like going into Whole Foods and assuming that everything sold there is good for you. Sorry if I just blew your mind. Here's why I think Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a Scam: Products promoting breast cancer awareness often contain harmful chemicals like parabens, phthalates, and BPA, which can disrupt hormones and increase breast cancer risk. Despite this, they are still marketed during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Some alcohol companies display the pink ribbon on their products, despite research showing that alcohol consumption is a known risk factor for breast cancer. Studies indicate that women who drink regularly have a higher risk of developing the disease, with those consuming one drink a day facing a 7-10% increased risk. Here are my action steps: Choose a starting point and take action. Following my breast cancer diagnosis, I evaluated the products I used on my skin and face. The average American woman uses about 20 products daily, totaling around 168 different chemicals, including makeup, toothpaste, and shampoo. Studies show that when a woman reduces her toxin load for just 28 days, she can reduce her risk of breast cancer. Great News! ______ Body Deli Why I love the Phoenix Lift Oil from Body Deli: Botanical Powerhouses for Deep Nourishment In addition to its scientifically advanced components, Phoenix Lift Face & Neck Oil features a curated blend of nutrient-dense, natural oils: Sea Buckthorn Oil: Rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidants, it promotes skin regeneration and combats free radical damage.
