À propos de cet audio
In this first episode, I’m joined by photographer and videographer Angela Hughes for an open, vulnerable conversation about childhood wounds, divorce, ADHD, people-pleasing, and the masks we learn to wear to feel safe.
What starts as a rainy walk quickly becomes a deep exploration of identity, belonging, and the quiet burdens carried by those who grew up too fast. Angela speaks candidly about anticipating everyone’s needs as a child, attention-seeking behaviours that were really calls for connection, and the lifelong pull towards rescuing others at her own expense.
We also talk about ADHD and masking, the exhaustion that comes with it, and how saying 'yes' can feel safer than setting boundaries. Angela reflects on motherhood, trust, burnout, and the slow, brave work of learning to put herself back into the picture.
If you’ve ever struggled to say no, felt responsible for everyone around you, or found yourself playing 'the strong one', this conversation will speak to you.
About Walk and Talk for the Soul
A series of unscripted, human conversations exploring identity, healing, and the parts of ourselves we often keep hidden. Each episode begins with a single question card designed to open something real.
This series is inspired by the community Walk & Talk for the Soul in North Dorset - gentle, grounding walks created to bring people together and make it easier to talk openly about mental health. These community walks support The Brave and Determined Company (The BAD Co.), a charity funding access to early-intervention, life-saving counselling for individuals across England.
