Terry Miles’ version of Veronica Mars

I was expecting a lot more weirdness, à la TANIS or Rabbits, but that’s not what this is. Wildflowers was a pretty by-the-numbers teenage murder mystery that was way, way too similar to season one of VMars for my taste, except with Miles’ trademark stilted “it’s complicated” conversation style (not convinced he’s ever met a Gen Z teen) and of course the silence-filling walkie talkie gibberish in the background. We even get the unreliable narrator and magically tech-savvy bestie, which felt exactly like Nic and MK with a few details changed, like when you copy someone’s homework and switch it up just enough — except it’s his own work that’s being copied here. I’m not saying there’s nothing worthwhile, if you’re missing the classic PNWS podcasts, it’s another addition to his canon, just temper your expectations.
