When you’ve lived the kind of wild stories I have — charged by a massive bear, caught a black mamba by hand, nearly drowned in a whirlpool, and almost crushed by a 500-foot glacier off Alaska’s coast — people sometimes ask, “Did that really happen?”

I get it. Some of those stories sound unbelievable. That’s why I always tell them about the witnesses — the friends who were right there beside me when it all went down.
