The novel follows a county sheriff with a jurisdiction along an interstate which, like an artery, is pumping criminals and mentally ill strangers into his community. Having to solve a murder that occurred in his jail, a wife who has been diagnosed with cancer, and a continuous flow of transients, the sheriff must use all his ingenuity and problem-solving ability as he deals with crime, personal struggles in his own life, and carrying out his responsibilities to care for the transients.

This is a noir novel looking at the dark side of contemporary life, with romance, love, and fear amid the very real horrors of the present and the probability of the nightmare to come as Western civilization collapses. Jasmine, a budding artist, and her new boyfriend, Colin, become inadvertently involved in a terrorist/hostage situation in London. Kidnapped at gunpoint, Jasmine is smuggled to Iraq where she becomes an unwilling ISIS bride. Eventually she ends up as a concubine in Saudi Arabia. The Western authorities show no interest in trying to locate her.

This book documents and tells the history of the establishment and growth of the Coastal Surveillance Force, Task Force 71. This grew to Task Forces 115, 116 and 117. My research for this history came from veterans serving in this period and the documentation of the Commander Naval Forces Vietnam Monthly Summaries. These documents did not exist before January 1966, so the early period was dependent on veterans and the author's personal knowledge.

This book is about a young man by the name of Clarence who is drafted in the sixties at a young age of 21. He is a young black man who deals with racism and deals with all types of bad experiences while in Vietnam. He has a son who is two years old and a wife who is 21. On his return from Vietnam his wife ends up leaving Clarence with his son to raise. Until one particular day when Clarence goes to the bank and he is robbed and killed and the man who killed Clarence gets away with his murder until 20 years later.

Qian Choi is the leader of a Hong Kong–based triad deeply involved in pharmaceuticals. Her daughter-in-law, Jazz, formerly a sex slave in Saudi Arabia, is now prime minister of the new country of Vancouver. Hong, also married to her son, is forced to leave Hong Kong for fear of the CCP. Qian runs afoul of Big Pharma who is trying to force her to sell out.
